I had the same problem, particularly with light grey surfaces (MrHobby 338 – which I use as ‘Boeing Grey’).
Now, before masking, I apply a coat of clear varnish to the light grey so that the tape doesn’t stick to it. It works perfectly.

Sometimes it has helped to clean the surface with MicroMesh 12000.

Talking about Heller 1/125 I can add:

A300B2, DC-8, B707, B737-200, L-1011 (which is rereleased in 2025!)

First of all you have to heat the plastic. Then bend in the correct shape, sometimes it is enough with your fingers, sometimes plates are useful.
Always be careful with the hot material.
The plastic gets cold/hard very quickly than.
If necessary you can repeat it and step by step to get it to the perfect point.

I tried this serveral times with the Zvezda plastic (wrapped wings) and it worked out fine. Be carefull. Second by second. Just “almost” boiling water.

Press the parts between some metal plates, or similar,  to make sure everything stays in one direction and the surface stays smooth.
