This is the first airliner model i actually finished.
Roden 1/144th scale Vickers Super VC10, with a combination of 26 Decals and paint for the markings. Some details like the inboard wing fences, blade antennae, water vents and landing gear doors from the NH Models brass photoetch set.
The windows were sourced from Authentic Arliners Decals BAC 1-11 set (buy two). The windshield was masked with Montex masks, as were the wheel hubs. I was pleasantly surprised how well these came out. See also my article on fuselage-mounted engine nacelles to read in detail about some of the "challenges" posed by this kit. Numerous details were added to the wing under surfaces, as were the cabin outflow valves on the forward left fuselage. The main undercarriage was a mis-molded disaster and drove me to drink. So did the pitot probes!
G-ASGH was delivered in October 1965 and while she carried the BOAC-CUNARD titles on the nose, it did not fly for that organization as such.
She really *looks* like a VC10 but by God, you're gonna work for it!

Many thanks, Zbynek.
Excellent VC10..definitely worth the work I think .
Thanks Gav,
The best way to describe this kit is, it’s not hard to build, but it’s hard to build well, in order to bring it up to the same standards as offerings from Zvezda, Eastern Express, X-Scale, Daco, or Revell Germany.
Which is why i’m trying agan with a second one.
I am getting better at this but it still isn’t a picnic.
