Beautiful Mad Dog!!
Thanks so much!!! My first Eastern Express kit, with more on the way. Got one in the 2007 DL scheme coming soon!
Your best one yet. DL mad dog 88s used to be everywhere. Now they’re all gone. Sad. Great airplane.
Thank you so much! I used to love flying on them and would always opt for the back even over first class. Those JT8D-217’s sounded awesome during takeoff!
Phenomenal work. Love Delta widgets. What decals did you use? Spot on!
Hi Robert!
Sorry for the late reply, been very busy!
Thanks for the comment! I used two sheets of Delta DC-9 decals from Airline Hobby Supply. Since there doesn’t seem to be any Widget MD-80-‘s out there, I decided these would work since the stripes and tail were consistent. I think the stripes are a tad too thin (especially the blue stripe, but it’s close enough! I had to source some numbers and letters from a few old decal sheets for the reg numbers and ship numbers. The windows are from Authentic Airliners. Overall I was pleased with how it turned out, and I really enjoyed weathering it like an “old dirty dog!” One side note… if you do attempt any of these Eastern Express MD-80’s, pack your patience, they require a lot of “bodywork.”
Excellent build love it
