Dear All,
nice as the “What If” colors may look, I am more into schemes that indeed graced the skies,
so if any decal makers read along here, we could use the opportunity to realistically list
the 757 schemes that are missed out as decals yet.Any ideas which color schemes you would desperately love to see as decals?
I start with screen-printed decals for the
America West green/orange cactus livery.
Cheers,
Christian

October 11, 2021 at 7:16 pm #161805I will go for the Ethiopian Airlines old c/s, the LU sheet was beautiful but evidently OOP and more and more difficult to obtain.
SIA yellow c/s is also one I would like to see released. It is nothing special but O am just a fan of SIA liveries.
Cheers,
StefanOctober 11, 2021 at 8:14 pm #161806RB211-524. I have the older Ethiopian color scheme decals by LU if you want them. I bought two by mistake so I have a spare. Let me know. As for the 757 decal wish list. Yes I second the American West green/ orange scheme and I’ll add the Ohio scheme too. I know it was done by a Russian maker but I’m unaware of the quality so I passes so far on those.

October 12, 2021 at 2:10 am #161813+1 on the America West cactus livery!
I’d also like to see the early ’90s USAir blue tail scheme. Not very flashy, but still looked great, IMO. I know Flight Path did this livery years ago, but they’re impossible to find and were so translucent, you had to buy two sheets and double them up.

October 12, 2021 at 10:02 am #161816I forgot to add to an earlier post for decals for United Airlines Blue Rising scheme and the Battleship Gray scheme. I know Flight Path did the Battleship scheme years ago and I’m not sure if any of the Blue Rising scheme.

www.christianklepp.comOctober 12, 2021 at 6:18 pm #161820I’m among those who believe that USAir bare-metal scheme was seriously underrated. It was not flashy but it was a good, solid livery.
For my part, I’d like to see the various now-retired Delta liveries adapted for the Zvezda kit. The widget is iconic and memorable (and on my short list), but I flew many a mile on 757s in the Ron Allen and Deltaflot liveries, and it would be handy to have them too.
Continental would be nice to have, too, both for the -200 and what appears to be the inevitable -300, with the pinstripe and globe in the correct “mustard” color instead of the metallic gold that many decals use, and the correct typeface for the registrations. The Liveries Unlimited CO sheet for the 737NGs got all of this correct.

So many choices.
Might as well reach for the sky and also request Icelandair Heckla Aurora. Most beautiful markings on a 757. “Funny” to read Marco Coldoway complain about the Gio decal. Didn’t you do the BEAUTIFUL model?Ken

The Delta widget 757 is available from 8adecs as well, though not (yet) adapted to the Zvezda model

Or the earlier one?

October 13, 2021 at 10:19 am #161830Just an FYI, none of the existing 757 decals has L1/R1, L4/R4 door outlines that will match the Zvezda kit. Those door decals have be skewed to match the compound curve of the fuselage at those points.
Also, the door outlines on the Zvezda kit are about 20% too side compared to the dimensions given in Boeing station diagrams. The over wing hatches are inaccurate in size and shape as well. You’d be better off filling them all in and eliminating the outlines and using correct decals.

www.christianklepp.comOctober 13, 2021 at 1:09 pm #161832Yes, the Flintstones scheme was the one I was referring to as well.
Might be nice to have similar for the BPK CRJ-700, too, but that’s for another thread.

October 14, 2021 at 2:31 am #161836Any of those America West Flintstones schemes would be tough to do. It would take a lot of decal, and some fancy painting.

October 15, 2021 at 1:33 pm #161846Could someone who has built this kit using the kit decals comment on wether or not the doorframe decals fit the doors as engraved on the kit? Thanks!

October 15, 2021 at 5:59 pm #161850Hi,
I have 2 that would be high on my wish-list.
1) National Airlines (Authentic Airliners have the 747, but I am lacking space for another widebdoy, so would be cool to have the 757)
2) SF ArilinesCheers

October 16, 2021 at 7:48 pm #161873+100 for Marco’s suggestion on the Icelandair Aurora scheme! I would be happy with the letters/logos and airbrushing the background color sheme. I had the opportunity to see this on the runway in the sun while my flight was taxiing in and it was beautiful!
Have fun modeling!

www.christianklepp.comOctober 19, 2021 at 7:47 am #161906I’m NOT making any promises with this question, but does anyone by any chance have the official Pantone colors used by America West for the “Flintstones” scheme? I’ve searched high and low to no avail. I can take guesses, but that’s all it would be.

October 19, 2021 at 12:48 pm #161910Let’s see if anyone comes up with numbers and also I can try to estimate the RGB/hex (if that is even useful for you) given the technique I mentioned in your other thread but in the end also a good guesswork would do the job, just like a faded livery also looks different from a freshly painted.
Cheers

www.christianklepp.comOctober 20, 2021 at 8:04 am #161915I need Pantone colors. But as I noted, the AmWest colors are no longer produced by Xtracolor, and in any event, being solvent based enamels, they can only be shipped by surface. So that’s pretty much the end of my interest in the Flintstones scheme.

October 21, 2021 at 2:46 am #161925Apparently back in 1999 I had started work on the USAir natural metal/red/blue stripe scheme. If Russ is okay, I’ll go ahead and finish that up for the Zvezda kit, since so much of the work is already done.

October 27, 2021 at 5:14 pm #161983A pair of rare 757s’s that would make nice looking models:
Hispania

https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/5/9/2/2826295-v40-6.jpgI flew on the LAPA one. First and hopefully last time I will experience an aborted take off. It took 30 min before the brakes could cool down enough for the second and successful attempt.
