2 engine types, splendid, I was counting on that, it will allow so much more livery possibilities. RB211 fan blades seem to be hollowed out but the PW2000 seem solid, still a great business decision to release both engine types.

The fan parts are gorgeous, they went for 1 part but it seems we are not loosing on details and definition. Revell already did A320neo/A321neo 1 part fans which looked very nice.

Well, that is at least something. I believe Revell got even that wrong on their A320 engines.
Regarding the PW engines, sure the waves of the blades are a bit overdone but the diameter of the cone seems OK. The ring through the blades has never been included in kits as far as I know. I hope the shape of the rest of the engine is accurate though.

Hi Guys
My first batch of the Zvezda 757-200 kits arrived yesterday from Europe, and all have left here today. I did sneak a peek at one before sending it out, and I have to echo all the good comments posted here. Personally, I’d nominate it for “Kit of the Year’ honours in the “Mass Produced” category. I know Kurt’s resin kits are excellent, and probably a little better in terms of accuracy, but they are harder to get and a lot more expensive.
I didn’t know to look at the PW engine fans until tonight, looks like the kit designers were fooled by the shadow cats by the adjacent blade into thinking it was curved, when I’d venture to say all fan blades on jet engines of that era were straight. Will have to see if a little work with a file can correct, or at least reduce it.
*** Update 9/25/21 ***
My second batch finally arrived on Tuesday, all have been mailed out. Third (ditto) batch should be here Monday 27th, and at the moment I have a five spares. One is going to my workbench, I just haven’t decided what markings it will receive – thinking perhaps Canada 3000 ? So many choices!
As to ‘US Sourced’ kits – well, the latest news is that the importer / distributor expects to have them early October, so they should be in your local hobby shops by mid month.

Got my first 757 in the mail yesterday afternoon; this one from a US supplier, and was just ordered last Saturday. The two that I ordered from a Russian supplier on August 9th are apparently on a world tour, as they are not here yet, and any tracking information ceased when they were handed off to the German postal system on August 24th.
This is a truly beautiful kit, possibly the finest I’ve ever seen in a mass produced airliner kit. Only complaint is that a few of the engine nacelle parts had broken from the sprues, and the finest end of the nose gear strut, as well as the top of one of the main gear struts were broken in place; hopefully these will be easy enough to repair.

You and I are in the same boat, Gene (or it could be that our parcels are on the same containership). I’ve had two on the way here since August and the last tracking update was when the parcel was handed off to Germany last month. I’m confident they will show up eventually, but a little research has shown me how much the pandemic has affected intercontinental shipping, especially anything sent economy post, and anything sent through a port.
That said, your report heartens me and I am wondering if I shouldn’t treat myself to one from a US supplier, to tide me over. There is a set of Eastern decals I’ve kept waiting 22 years, and at some point enough will be enough!

My kit does not have any broken parts that I can see through the wrapper. I checked the struts, specifically, and they are intact.
But as far as additional decals, I bought some America West when I ordered this kit and I’m not going to be able to use them because the decals are intended for someone who is going to fill in all the cabin windows. All of the windows, door outlines, logos, stripes are already printed together and it would take lots of decal surgery and a lot of luck to put them on a model with clear windows. It’s rather disappointing. So, it looks like mine will use kit decals and be Icelandair — which isn’t a bad-looking airplane anyway.

Now, the big question: is it demonstrably better than then Authentic Airliners kit? Its obviously less expensive, but are the details there? For myself, I’d rather buy an AA kit and help a small business that has been so good to our little corner of the hobby, assuming it remains the better kit in terms of shape and details.

I agree I prefer to support the vendors that are part of our group. Au5hentic Airliners has been nothing but supportive to airliner modelers over the years. And the quality of castings are incredible to say the least. Speaking to the Zvezda 757-200, this kit takes injection molding to a whole new level. But I do not see why we can’t support both efforts because they are focusing on different modelers. I can see the mainline kit being Zvezdas and the Ultra spot on kit being Authentic Airliners. Just my opinion though as others may feel differently. I am fortunate enough to have both kits and I plan on building them both.

Personally, I’ve always prefered working with plastic kits over resin, and I don’t ocnsider them interchangeable. When I’m looking at kits, I’m looking for plastic. So I’m very glad that Zvezda has put so much effort into this 757.
The Zvezda 757, surprisingly to me, includes a flightdeck interior complete with control columns. (I do my models with clear windows, using Kristal Klear, including the flightdeck.)
Their engines include the intake interior walls as separate parts that can easily be smoothed prior to installation. Plus, the satellite antenna on the back of the fuselage is a separate part; winglets are optional — The kit easily models an early 757 or a more recent configuration.

Finally had to order a Zvezda kit on eBay, which arrived today. Gorgeous!
Considering I supplied them all of my vector art that they used as a basis for the CAD design on the kit, you’d think they would have had the courtesy to send me a copy of the kit (ditto on their 1/72 C-130, for which I provided them several thousand detail photos and a comprehensive variant guide showing common and unique parts for each major variant). An *awful* lot of work on my part, which I was happy to do. But zero thanks, zero credit, no nothing. Last time I do that. I’ve emailed them and I’ve sent them messages on their FB page, with zero response whatsoever.
Nice work guys, but if you ignore the people who helped make your product possible, don’t expect any more help in the future. Pretty crappy way to do business.

So I am going to join and agree with the many throngs of Zvezda 757 buyers that the kit is truly one of the best ones we’ve seen in a long time, if ever. And I’ll also encourage all of us to say thank you, Jennings…you truly are an artist of rare caliber. It is such a pleasure to say thank you to you, but it’s also a great pleasure to say GOOD JOB!! WELL DONE! The amount of work you “gave” to Zvezda in the development of this kit is definitely NOT going unnoticed by those of us that collect and model these fine kits. I am so happy to have two of these kits, and will soon build them with great pride and “fun,” knowing that YOU had a hand in my build. Thank you, Jennings, for all you do for this treasured hobby, and thank you for ALL you have done and contributed over the years.

I also want to thank Jennings for the work he did on this kit (and I’m sorry Zvezda has acted this way regarding all of his help). Last night I noticed that even the clear windshield piece is exceptionally good quality. Normally I glue in my own windshield posts and use Kristal Klear, but when I fit the windshield part into place, it is such a snug fit and looks so much like a 757 that I decided to go ahead and use it.

My first 757 kit showed up yesterday and it’s even better in person than it’s looked in the photos. I’m looking forward to this and am hoping it will be a speedy and enjoyable build.
Alas, not being acknowledged for one’s efforts is too often a part of this realm, not just the airplane hobby but any other field. Over the years I’ve certainly given over countless hours on various projects (modeling and otherwise) only to never see a dime, a complimentary example of the finished product, or any sort of acknowledgment. What brought more satisfaction in the long run was knowing that I’d helped bring about something that was sorely needed, something that was appreciated by those who shared my interests, and the words of those who knew my role in it and told me what it meant to them meant more to me than any material reward.
Jennings, I hope the words you’re reading here and elsewhere will serve that role for you. It’s not the same as an official acknowledgment, but it comes from people who are genuinely happy to have what you helped bring to reality.

I can only second what Jodie, Paul, Ken and Marc already said,
if Zvezda is not wanting to acknowledge what you did to make their kit such a success — we surely all do!
Although I am personally very happy with my several AA 757 kits, I will certainly also eye the Zvezda kit
as I really value their great quality. Still their IL62M, TU154M, TU134 and IL76 are among my treasured kits
and I believe that the 757 is at least as good as they are.Let’s all have fun building it!
My cordial thanks for paving the way towards another Zvezda gem!
Let’s also see which great new decals will come along…what about screen-printed decals for the green/orange Cactus livery?

Has anybody measured the window spacing on the rear fuselage where the vertical panel lines cross the window belt? I saw the kit recently and want to know if the spacing is indeed correct and there’s just an illusion caused by a vertical panel line.

My LHS has had the kit for several days, so I picked one up. The 757 is not one of my favorites (my shields are now up), but since it IS a jet airliner, and my former employer has large numbers of them with both engines, I should have a few of them in my stash of airliners.
Before throwing any rocks my way, let me say this… I NEVER flew it, so it not being one of my favorites has NOTHING to do with any shortcomings in design, performance, flight characteristics or its looks. It is a fine looking airplane and much loved by the minions of pilots who have flown it. I’m not crazy about it because of its lack of comfort from the hundreds of times I jumpseated on it, and the looong trips I rode on it as a passenger in Coach, legs like MSP-ANC (6+ hours, no meals), ATL-SLC, MSP-VCR, ANC-SDF, etc. It was torture for me to have to ride on the J/S. If you could see the cockpit, you would know why as there were 4 jumpseats! In order for the pilots to use the lav, 3 of 4 J/S occupants would have to unbuckle and get up out of their seats!
Having said all of this, I believe that instead of buying the A300F4-605R, my employer would have done better to buy a freighter variant of the 757-300. The -200 could carry 15 containers on the upper deck, and the -300 was long enough that it could have carried 18-19 easily, and had transcontinental range while burning much less fuel. In other words, a twin engined DC-8 replacement sans F/E. Perfect!
So, am I to assume that the kit looks quite good except for the RR engines then? I have walked around it a lot over the years, but do not have any photos (Thou shalt not photograph on company property! Definition of company property=the entire airport). So, I really do want inputs on the kits accuracy… Please?

Jeff, I’ve been slowly working on my first Zvezda 757 and the kit looks excellent and builds as beautifully as the 737s. To be honest, even though I know there are a few shape/size issues in the RR engines, they really don’t jump out at you in the context of the larger model. You could easily build this kit straight from the box (as I am doing) and be very happy with the outcome. I love the 757 and have looked for places where this kit could fall short, and thus far the only flaw I can find is that it took this long. My verdict is to build it and enjoy it.

Thanks for your input, which I value as being non rivet counter realistic, just as I tend to be myself. We can put up with a small lack of perfection in some areas without totally condemning a kit as pure garbage and a waste of time and money. I have a soft spot in my heart for many of the model kits of my youth which are junk to many younger folks of today. Things like the Revell 707, 727, DC-7, DC-8, DC-9, Electra and the Monogram DC-3 and Super Connie come to mind, all fondly remembered.
If anyone else wants to chime in on the 757 kit, I’m all ears…(eyes?) To my eyes, it does look very much right on from memory.

save for the AA kit which is in another league altogether. True, there are a couple of “flaws”. But generally, it LOOKS like
a proper 757. I’ve done 2 so far (Eastern & FedEx) and have another couple in the stash. Looking for proper markings to use the PW engines and winglets.Jeff Jarvis :

All I can say is that there’s a Germain shop that offers the A321 neo which was released after the sanctions were applied and the same model is also available from plenty of sellers (mostly from the Baltics) for reasonable prices on ebay.
The same should happen with a 757-300, once it is released.

For what it’s worth Hannants in the UK have the A321 NEO in stock and the 757-300 listed under “future releases” so they are presumably expecting to receive it at some point.

Hello Folks,Spoken with Zvezda’s export manager and this is the situation. Due to the well known Ukrainian-Russia situation, as European Union, we do have sanctions against Russia. Sanctions apply only on some goods categories and not all products imported from Russia. Plastic models fall under the toys category which is not affected by sanctions. Therefore, shops and distributors can re-stock Zvezda’s products without any restrictions and we can buy them whenever we wish.Different story is for United States. In US, sanctions apply on everything that is imported from Russia with the application of 70% duty tax on all good (plastic kits included)! Due to this 70% tax, the US importer and distributor will not re-stock any Zvezda kit. Therefore, if a modeler, shop or local distributor wishes to buy Zvezda’s products without the import tax surcharge, will need to import them from any country in EU or Worldwide country without sanctions. Or buy them directri from Zvezda and paying a 70% tax surcharge.This is a sterile expositions of the facts and situation as it is nowadays. Business and politically correct or not, morale or immoral, buy or not to buy, each one of us can make our own opinion in our minds. Lets please leave out of our hobby and this forum any political matter.Cheers,Ivo
