United orders 100 Boeing 787s plus options for 100 more, making it the biggest order ever placed for a widebody aircraft. United also ordered 44 737 Max airplanes to be delivered between 2024 and 2026.
United expects to take delivery of the new widebody planes between 2024 and 2032 and can choose among the 787-8, 9 or 10 models, providing flexibility to support a wide range of routes.
United also exercised options to purchase 44 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for delivery between 2024 and 2026 – consistent with the United Next 2026 capacity plan – and ordered 56 more MAX aircraft for delivery between 2027 and 2028.
The airline now expects to take delivery of about 700 new narrow and widebody aircraft by the end of 2032, including an average of more than two every week in 2023 and more than three every week in 2024.

December 14, 2022 at 7:09 pm #184094Lol “new” jobs.
Working in this industry I am all for jobs but it’s funny how we slogged through the last couple years many many thousands of jobs lighter than pre covid even though they claimed they never fired anyone and now we’re adding “new” jobs. Oh well, lol to the politics!

December 16, 2022 at 4:21 am #184095I don’t work in the industry but think I have an idea of how things work. Yup…..Lots of jobs said to be added. I’m certain that there’s hype involved in the release but will take hiring hype over job loss hype any day.

December 18, 2022 at 3:34 am #184097Ken, yes I agree; positive hype over negative hype for sure. But a little less hype may be better for us all.
Cheers to us all here for the 1/144 scale plastic! (Ok fine, 1/200 too…)
