Hi Everyone,
I’m getting a lot of questions via different channels, so I’ll try to answer everything here.
- Every single forum post from the old site has been ported over, nothing was left behind. If you can’t find anything, please do a forum search.
- The forums have different sections, please start your thread in the appropriate section.
- All images from the “My files” section of the old site has been brought over, with the exception of photos that had malformed file names, ie. several spaces in the file name, special characters, or foreign language characters which tend to break urls. If the url broke and errored-out during the import, then the image did not make it over. Sorry.
- All your photos that were uploaded to the Member Galleries or was in your PFS to be used in forum posts should be in the Media Library now. From the left column, please click on “Media” and you should see all your photos. Again, see #3 for any photos that may be missing.
- Not all articles have been ported over yet. I’m doing them manually because I don’t want to use the old formatting of those pages. Some of them have tables and other older HTML semantics which is not a good idea to bring over. It will take some time, please be patient.
- Yes, the Kit and Decal Database, which includes all the built model photos, pictures of kits, boxes, sprues, etc. with almost 30,000 photos will be brought over soon. The problem is not the photos, but rather the functionality taking longer than we expected. All the photos are safely uploaded to AWS. 🙂
- Please do not use the Attachments feature at the bottom of the forum text editor to insert images. The Attachments feature is to add files to a thread, like a PDF file of a maintenance manual or something like that. All images, need to be uploaded to the Media Library. To insert an image into a forum post, click the Media button and you can upload an image directly. Or, before getting started on a thread, you can drag and drop several images to your Media Library and then access them when creating a post, by clicking the “Add media” button and selecting the photo(s) to insert.
- Some enhancements will be added to the forum over the next few weeks, like quoting previous posts, forum signatures, etc.
Thanks,
ahmed
