Let me present to you my new artwork of PW JT9D with the early pylons engines in 1/144 scale for Boeing 747 kits conversion.
Here’s the result:
In result I got a kit of 4 engines:
A set for each engine consists of 8 parts. The parts are the same for all engines, except for the pylons; they are different for inboard and outboard engines.
The separation of parts makes painting and assembling as easy as possible, and very fast.
Assembling and painting:
To start I primed all the parts
If you want to get the maximum effect from metal paints, the corresponding part should be covered with black glossy paint and polished
I don’t use model paint except Alclad II, I mix pants for cars, so can’t give you the number and brand of the paint. So the choice of paint for each part is up to you.
Now, mostly, only photos will be attached.
The pylon Is a special part!
It should be adapted to your specific kit, it’s a complicated procedure, but be patient.
BTW, it is very useful to insert a couple of small pins to simplify further attaching the engine to the wing:
I attached it to Revell 744 kit wing
The pylon was painted Boeing gray
One more thing. I also designed a decal for pylons and spinners.
After applying the decal pylon is ready.
The same with spinner
Start assembling
One more «decal»
While it’s easy attached the masking tape for future
The nacelle assembly
Hot sections assembly
Final assembly
Thank you for your attention!

October 6, 2019 at 11:20 pm #156979Very nice!! Those are beautiful.
Don’t forget that the early JT9Ds had spring loaded blow-in doors around the front end of the fan cowling. Not sure when they were eliminated.

October 11, 2019 at 6:57 pm #157065Guys,
I just received the PW JT9’s engine set from Sergey,
Stunning, great attention to detail, no resin cleanup, all parts have small slots to fit properly,
the intakes are super thin and finely engraved. What you see on the pics is exactly what you get, excellent packaging too !
Highly recommended !
All the best,
Cesar

Very early, 1972ish I want to say. Those sucker doors made it tougher for them to make noise specs, so they made a neweer inlet lip that was a bit thicker. It also solved a lot of the surging issues during crosswinds.

March 1, 2020 at 3:47 am #157944Hello friends,
I’ve slightly improved the kit to get better accuracy.
Painted fan rings have been replaced with printed ones:
I’ve also designed new more detailed fan with 46 blades:
The two rear parts have been replaced with one joined one (this makes it easier to produce and assemble):
From now the kit comes with new parts!
