Let me present to you my artwork of PW JT9D engines in 1/144 scale for Boeing 747 kits conversion.
Here’s the result:
Long ago, in 2010, i started creating parts to build good engines for the Boeing 747 SP/100/200/300 models. I made them by hand, and then mold in resin using primary master models.
In result I got a kit of 4 engines:
A set for each engine consists of 8 parts. The parts are the same for all engines, except for the pylons; they are different for inboard and outboard engines.
The separation of parts makes painting and assembling as easy as possible, and very fast.
And now how do they do it.
To start I primed all the parts
If you want to get the maximum effect from metal paints, the corresponding part should be covered with black glossy paint and polished
I don’t use model paint except Alclad II, I mix pants for cars, so can’t give you the number and brand of the paint. So the choice of paint for each part is up to you.
Now, mostly, only photos will be attached.
The pylon Is a special part!
It should be adapted to your specific kit, it’s a complicated procedure, but be patient.
BTW, it is very useful to insert a couple of small pins to simplify further attaching the engine to the wing:
I attached it to Revell 744 kit wing
The pylon was painted Boeing gray
One more thing. I also designed a decal for pylons and spinners.
After applying the decal pylon is ready.
The same with spinner
Start assembling
One more «decal»
While it’s easy attached the masking tape for future
The nacelle assembly
Hot sections assembly
Final assembly
Thank you for your attention!

September 14, 2019 at 6:01 pm #156887I can see the photos clearly and the work is beautiful. However I’m not sure what the point is.
If the OP is just showing us what he can do, well done and I wish I had your skill. If the idea is to make the parts commercially available, how much will they cost and how do they compare with BraZ BZ4014 which is a good product and readily available for €19.00 ?

Why not show off your work, it’s no different to posting a pic of your completed model.
An interesting article for me.

September 14, 2019 at 6:54 pm #156889I see the photos now. Great work! I really like the idea of the spinner being a separate part from the fan disk.

September 15, 2019 at 12:06 am #156893Nice ,I like the assembly approach to these engines and the detail decal that goes along with it .
If it has wings I can crash it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the one hand I spent a huge amount of time and energy on the development; on the other hand the price of the kit should be reasonable.
To find the balance I’ve just listed the first set on eBay.https://www.ebay.com/itm/303285073883
Betting will show what it’s worth.

September 15, 2019 at 3:29 am #156896Quite a nice set of engines!
Will you be doing a set of the JT9D Engines with the early pylons? Those would be more popular I think due to the fact that most 747-100/200’s had the early pylons vice the later pylons that you have modeled. Those would really dress up the revell kit nicely!!
Well done.
Thanks,
Mark

September 15, 2019 at 5:15 am #156897I designed these engines for my still unfinished Boeing 747SP project that has older pylons

Provided you or anyone else can help me with links to clear and perpendicular photos of early pylons, it will be much appreciated.
I’m ready to make them, no problem.

CYYZSeptember 16, 2019 at 6:22 pm #156901Hello Sergey!
Firstly welcome to the forum!
Guys, as I wrote earlier in another topic the set is really gorgeous! There wasn’t such a handy (convenient) set in nature from any manufacturer in the resin yet.
I personally the owner of four sets (in PAS-Models casting version without decals).
P.S. Sergey, is it possible to purchase decals separately?
Aeroflot and Veb Plasticart

AbdukarimSeptember 16, 2019 at 10:14 pm #156900is it possible to purchase decals separately?
Hi Abdukarim!
Actually, I didn’t intend to sell the decals separately, but if I like the price I will send them to you.Meanwhile the decals were improved:
Write what sheets you need and in what quantity, and how much you are ready to pay for them.
Perhaps it will be more convenient for you and someone else to contact me directly by email druzdruz@yahoo.com or viber/whatsapp +79286253005.
Best regards
Sergey

If you want more than just the engine details, the Flying Colors 747 detail sheet is still available and one of our best sellers: https://www.fcdecals.com/page.php?id=73

KSFOSeptember 25, 2019 at 4:17 am #156925What I wouldn’t give to have these JT9D engines in 1/125 scale!
Terry (Caravellarella)
Because L’ORÉAL keeps telling me I’m worth it..........
Or maybe it’s MAYBELLINE...............September 26, 2019 at 12:09 am #156929Sorry, 1/125 scale is not my thing;
since the set is made by hand, not in a 3d program, its scale cannot be changedMeanwhile the set in scale 1/144 is available on eBay

March 1, 2020 at 3:54 am #157945Hello friends,
I’ve slightly improved the kit to get better accuracy.
Painted fan rings have been replaced with printed ones:
I’ve also designed new more detailed fan with 46 blades:
The two rear parts have been replaced with one joined one (this makes it easier to produce and assemble):
The main decal was also slightly improved; the entire set of decals now looks like this:
From now the kit comes with new parts!

Is there a chance we see these engines in 1/200 scale? Thanks
Phil
