I’m sure many of you will have seen this in one of the media outlets but thought it may be of interest to anyone who hasn’t.
For a mere $60-65,000 you can relive the golden age of PA during a 12-day trip, flying the airline’s historic routes and staying at some swanky inns along the way.
I was going to sign up but then thought about all the kits and aftermarket sets I could buy with the money and decided against.

So many kits, so little time …
July 14, 2024 at 2:12 pm #245962“Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone … ”
A real very true word…
When I crack the lotto jackpot I will book it and made the trip.
Each time visiting (East)Berlin as a kid and later as teenie saw full of admiration and longing the Pan Am 727 on their IGS-route turning into approach to Tegel. Longing grew more and more.
The Plasticart Pan Am 727 was my very first kit my father built and he gave it me for my 10th birthday. I was so proud.Later in the mid-80s, when I had to do my military service and we were at a training ground south of Berlin, I saw the A310 flying westbound to Frankfurt every hour. I would have given anything to be able to fly with it.
My mother had the chance to visit her aunt to their 75th birthday in Detroit in 1987, one year before Lockerbie.
She flew FRA-LHR-JFK-DTW with not a word english. All of course with Pan Am and she had to tell me each detail over and over again. Her aunt in Detroit had to pay it all of course.I have some of ties to Pan Am, even though I unfortunately never had the opportunity to fly with them.
Pan Am was, is and always will be my favorite airline. We were on vacation in Florida in May. It’s a shame that the Pan Am Aware Store has gone. I would have loved to buy a lot of memorabilia.
At least we visited Pan Am’s very first office in Key West.-

July 16, 2024 at 8:47 am #245983It’s interesting to hear about your own connection to Pan Am.
I also never had the opportunity to fly with them but wished I had.
By sheer coincidence, my wife and I were also in Florida in May and stayed 5 nights at Key West. One of the first places we visited was the restaurant/brewery now occupying the former PA office. I took the exact same photo, as well as others inside of the few pieces of Pan Am memorabilia they have on display.
We were there previously back in 1998 when it was owned by actress Kelly McGillis and named Kelly’s Caribbean Bar and Grill. As well as a better display of PA items there was a display cabinet with her flight jacket from Top Gun.
At least they still have some references to Pan Am but they could do a far better job of it and I was also disappointed they they only had their own merchandise for sale and no PA stuff, possibly because they’d have to pay Pan Am Brands licence fees.
We also visited the former Dinner Key building at Coral Gables, which is now the Miami City Hall building.
I’m sure you enjoyed your vacation as much as we did ????
