Wow!I am in for one each. I may have to have them shipped to the office though. The minister of finance might not be as enthusiastic and these are going to be really big kits!
Well done Kurt.
Hi Mark,
I hear you, I am getting one of each, but first I have to sell it to my “minister of finance”lol…
All the best,
Cesar
MIAApril 26, 2016 at 4:36 pm #147931The 744 master pattern is finished, initially with GE engines only.
All rain gutters and door sills will be provided by my brother as 3D decals. However, for a special friend of mine, I added static dischargers to the radome.
The pics do not show the landing gear, the flap track fairings, engine fans and the 2 cabin outflow valves.I forgot to mention, that it will include also the LH-type Sat antenna.

KurtExtraordinary ! I see very nice and subtle compound curves in all directions in the windshield/nose area, really a wonderful job you have done here. Lighting conditions and angles can show how complicated the 747 nose area is, compared to a 767 (NOT implying the twin is simple) which does not have that much transition compound curves.
There is absolutely no way I could change my requirement for one of each 747 kit/engine combo you will release. I am really impatient !

April 27, 2016 at 1:22 pm #147961Kurt,
I’m at a loss for words.
Chapeau!
What a stunning beauty!
I can imagine her wearing some Cargo titles … and being dirty
…and yes, I love the static dischargers on the radome so much!
Cheers and thanks,

April 30, 2016 at 7:04 am #148008You. Rock.
Thank you so much, that’s super information. I do have some old Qantas racing car 747 decals in the stash so I may have to bite the bullet and get the GE powered 744, too. Dang, I’m in fear of seeing where my bank account will be after all of this.
Kurt, and updates on a possible, rough ETA?
Thank you both!

April 30, 2016 at 8:45 am #148013I should get one of these and convert it to a 748, that way all I’ll have to do is the stretch
On a serious level, I’ll definitely get one, still need to figure out which engines though….

May 17, 2016 at 5:59 am #148239I have one concern with the SP, will it be a tail dragger? Is the fuselage hollow? Short nose moment might require a lot of weight.

Itzehoe sounds like a reasonable place to meet.Ortwin, thanks and best regards back!
It’s exciting times! I talked to Kurt yesterday,
after 35 years of waiting for a decent Boeing 747SP in 1:144 finally dreams come true!I hope that I can allocate an appropriate amount of time building one “fast”,
Ortwin, buying the SP’s is one thing but if only we could buy time with it, right?Cheers,

yeaah, section of Airlinercafe Northern Germany……… :–
Yes, buying airliners is so easy, but getting time to build them????
Anyway, I will try to build at least one SP before the section Northern Germany will meet, if it´s not tomorrow.
Merlin, I live in Neumünster, i.e. in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein. Are you a natural born Schleswig-Holsteiner?
I think Itzehoe is ok.Viele Grüße

November 16, 2016 at 1:10 am #149759Perfect, I’ll probably be back over in S-H in summer, I was in Hessen and Bayern recently for work, but had no time to come up north.
Ortwin, I was born in Munich, but my mom’s family is from Brügge, just north of Bordesholm. Usually we stay at her sister’s house near Itzehoe. I vote we meet in NMS or HH, Itzehoe is boring.
Looks like I need to hop on the AA 747 bandwagon, I’ve gotta make some time to build more kits this winter….

Great idea meeting in Hamburg, one of the most interesting places in Northern Germany and I think it is a famous place in regards of Airliner industry, e.g. Lufthansa Technik, HAM Airport, Airbus Industries, and, last but not least, my personal FAL (final assembly line)
Please tell us when you will stay here…..

November 18, 2016 at 5:58 am #149771Lighting conditions and angles can show how complicated the 747 nose area is, compared to a 767 (NOT implying the twin is simple) which does not have that much transition compound curves.
A funny story about that. I had a very dear friend who was a retired Boeing engineer (now long since passed on, sadly). He had been retired for several years when the 767 was first in flight test, and on some of the early taxi runs, they had trouble getting the windshield wipers to clear a swath the entire length of the blades (imagine that: it was raining in Seattle!). He said “the computer boys” messed around for several days with the exact angle for the spindle, re-did the blade tensioner, etc, and never could get it to wipe a clear swath across the curved windscreen (which was a first for Boeing, btw). So in desperation they called Cal in out of retirement. He said “I knew what the problem was, so I took my slide rule with me when I went!” A few swipes of the old slide rule and, voila, problem solved! Sometimes the old school way is the best way. I never see a 767 that I don’t think about Cal Hubbard. Truly one of the kindest, humblest people I ever knew.

… 767… curved windscreen (which was a first for Boeing, btw)… I never see a 767 that I don’t think about Cal Hubbard.Did you mean 747 ? Because the 767’s windshield is not curved, it is made of 2 perfectly flat panes, at least the 2 panes that are cleared by the wipers.

November 19, 2016 at 9:21 pm #149779Unfortunately, a small delay in releasing the 747SP is in effect, because the casting company is a little overburdened with all of the recent 747 casting orders.
These kits are huge and have a lot of small pieces.
I expect to have the first units available during the first week of December.Kurt
