Last Friday I received an update from USPS that my two CRM B-727 kit were on final approach which made me very excited but for some unknown reason my B-727 kits executed a missed approach and made a safe landing the following day????????.
Everyone please give a big shout out to CRM for their superb 1/144 BOEING-727-200 kit. I have already started building the kit and just waiting for my LACI B-727 flaps to arrive. I will post my photos as it progresses.

December 28, 2024 at 5:24 pm #247058My kit arrived on Christmas eve and I just opened the box. As mentioned by others it certainly warrants a big “WOW!” reaction. The surprise of the 727-100 kit on the box flap was already mentioned.
How about the small bag of Haribo Gold Bears inside the box? I’ve gotten pens and stickers with orders before but not gummy bears. Another nice treat 🙂

January 3, 2025 at 11:02 pm #247090Hi Everyone!
Happy 2025!
How is everybody progressing on the new CRM 727-200 1/144 builds? I have been working on mine and in initial sanding and puddy-stage of fuselage.
It would be cool if everyone posts tips and observations on their builds.
I am going to build custom takeoff flaps on mine and sorting out if I do TWA 80’s scheme.
Regards,

January 4, 2025 at 4:18 pm #247092I have progressed to the point of getting ready to prime the fuselage and wings. The fit of the parts has been exceptional and very little putty used so far. I would strongly recommend checking the fit of the flight deck when joining the fuselage halves. You have a choice of fan blades in the engines, the fit there was not very good as I had to sand off a considerable amount to get a proper fit. The exhaust fit was OK. I really don’t like the clear window inserts on the fuselage. I did quite a bit of sanding to get a smooth surface and will learn more once I prime over the area. The clear cockpit window canopy was an exceptional fit unlike EE that never seems to fit exact. Waiting for the TWA twin globe decals that are in the mail.

The cockpit area is indeed a challenge and good tip to align before gluing the halves.
I was a bit challenged on the fuselage halves being snug and sanded down the wheel bay on the nose and the bulkhead to help. But the nose of the plane is now a mess I will puddy.
It does look like a 727-200! See how it looks vs the built Minicraft 1/144 United 727-200 Advance (which was a lot of work).

we know about the issue and therefore will soon publish V1.4 of the instructions with some updates. The forward bulkhead for example needs to be thineed to fit into the slot. For the fan disks, we also know about this issue and this is stated in the instructions already. We will take all these things to be improved on the -100

wheelbay should actually be fine, its only about the forward bulkhead that is a bit too thick and needs to be sanded down.

www.cr-models.comJanuary 5, 2025 at 2:31 am #247104Right now am in the process of re-scribing, and have begun work on the landing gear. I am really having trouble getting the main gear to fit. I feel like I must be doing something wrong, but cannot figure out what it might be. They don’t want to align with the attach points for me, and I am really using too much pressure to get them to fit right. Anyone else struggling with this? I certainly don’t want them completed, to break the PE parts off, forcing them on at the end of the build.
Other than that, this kit has been very fun with great fit! The first example will be Western swizzle stick.
I don’t always say “Proceed as requested”
But when I do, it is because I have no clue what you just said.January 5, 2025 at 3:07 am #247105CRM friends have you finished a 727 model for us to see? It will be inspirational to see the finished product as we all are working on ours to use as an additional reference.

hm thats really strange, as you can see in my testshot builds (2 done by two modellers), the landing gear was easily done. i admit, you need a few minutes of patience for the support struts, but i found it quite easy. i worked on that with tweezers a lot… i think one can say boeings construction is simply very complex and that probably gives some modellers headache. The alignment was more or less perfect, maybe you did something wrong indeed?? It might be helpful to follow the instructions. First the support strut ,then the main strut and doing this right after another, cause as long as the glue hasnt dried you can still move the parts. i hope that maybe helps?

unfortunetly no, there is no time. We try to keep up customer support, we have to pack another batch of kits, ship them all the time and then we are trying to prepare the sale of 727 resin parts. there is no time left to build a proper 727 model at the moment, allthough i plan to do it this year.

So I just talked to my partner who assembled the other testshot. He installed the main gear strut first and then attached the support struts, he also did not have any issues. Appearently both ways seem to work. I hope you found a way in the meantime…

www.cr-models.comJanuary 5, 2025 at 2:14 pm #247113Yes, I am following the instructions….. I can see how the main strut should fit, what I am saying is it does not for me fit at all, definitely not an easy fit. I’m to the point of trimming away large chunks to get it there. I was hoping to get some help from someone, but I guess it’s all me. I’m at work right now, but when I get home I’ll email CRM with photos describing my issue.

yes, that would be the best thing, unless someone else has the same problem, but i hear about this for the first time, and as i said we assembled two kits in two different ways and did not have this problem. Just mail photos to us and we will have a look…

Sadly, no. I cannot get them to fit from front to back, non of those pictures help with what my issue is. Basically, the large flat section does not fit unless installed at an angle thus making the wheels point at an angle left or right of straight from the nose. I’ll send pictures later of my issue. Hopefully it can make sense then.

In general always testfit things on these kind of kits, as said before, from our experience the struts fit perfectly and give the landing gear a lot of strength.
kind regards

Yes, I am following the instructions! I also looked at and tried swapping sides, this is not my first model. I am also test fitting, this is the point I am at, I’m not glueing right now!

www.cr-models.comJanuary 7, 2025 at 10:50 am #247127I’m in the process of separating the rudder from the vertical stabilizer in order to pause it slightly deflected, but I went straight to the landing gear sequence and separated both struts just to check.
Exemplary fit as far as I’m concerned.
On a side note, this is the very 1st airliner kit which IMHO displays a very accurate airfoil and splendidly thin trailing edge. Most of the companies with large financial resources can’t design/tool an accurate airfoil section yet a small company such as CRM can.
More power to you guys!

www.cr-models.comMarch 7, 2025 at 12:47 pm #247626I have a question.
it is nothing more than curiosity. Why did you guys pick JAT as initial livery?
There are lots of awesome liveries for the 727 so there has to be a reason for JAT
Not that I don’t like it but again, curious!

Hi Walter,
it was due to licence issues. We wanted to have something more popular too, but it wasn’t possible. good news is, the -100 most likely will have 2 livery options, one is quite popular.
kind regards

It was hilarious when I saw the pictures.
Not the quality of the build, it’s outstanding.
But when my phone translated the page into English (because my command of German is equal only to my command of Swahili) the translation also included the lettering above the windows. So there were these white boxes along the 727 that said “Republic of the Congo” above the windows. For half a nanosecond I thought, “Oh Marco, great build but your decals failed you.”
Then I realized it was translating the French on the 727. ????
A great job and detailed history of this particular bird.
I have one project to wrap up and then back to my LH 727 in the proper, classic, timeless scheme I first encountered at Frankfurt when I landed in the fall of ‘83 on the way to my new posting in Schweinfurt.

April 13, 2025 at 4:59 pm #247987All while I am enjoying CRM 727-200 build, I also realized Authentic Ariliners build is also so much better than Airfix. Frankly, CRM has that rough skin that scratches easily and then needs lots of primer while Authentic Airliners is totally smooth and shines.

April 13, 2025 at 5:04 pm #247988I know it is resin vs non-resin, and it is fun to see the value of both together.

tbh, thats new to us. The plastic is actually quite good to handle and much better than zvezda for example.
I guess every modeller has his/her own preference, but so far i hear this for the first time.
Also my personal view is that resin prep takes much more effort than plastic, but thats only my 2 cents.
