I have a kit but the canopy glass is wrong. It looks like it may go to a 777 kit? Does anyone have a trashed one or a vacuform one. Thanks for any help, I will pay for the part and shipping.

April 10, 2025 at 8:17 pm #247977Glad that Gene could help you out with a canopy. I can’t help but mention that the photo of the canopy and fuselage fit issue gave me a well needed laugh.

April 10, 2025 at 9:00 pm #247978I guess E bay sellers who sell ash trays, womens shoes and wooden cuttlery should not be allowed to sell plastic model kits!

April 11, 2025 at 5:16 am #247979My first MC 777 came with a 757 cockpit, I guess quality control wasn’t a high priority.

April 11, 2025 at 9:45 am #247980I remember reading stories of people finding the occasional Minicraft mismatched canopy in the box and was thinking that is what might have happened to AW31940K. I had an Entex small scale DC-10 also with the wrong clear part. I took a quick look and said “Nope! Definitely the wrong part.”. At least in my case I was able to trim, fill, paint, and use a decal. One would have to be a magician to make the 777 canopy fit on a 757.

April 11, 2025 at 10:52 am #247981I use to not mind that much but when a company goes out of business and you have no options it gets frustrating. I hope Academy picks up the MC line, it’s not perfect but there are not many options out there today.

I find the reverse to be true. Except for the DC-8, all of the MC jets are pretty bad, and not worth building. You have Daco/Skyline and EE copy of Daco for 737-3/4/500, much better than the MC kit. Now, we have the CRM 727, negating any need for MC. Zvezda, for the 737-7/800, 757-2/300, negating the need for what you are trying to build. Zvezda, EE, CRM, Revell and X Scale all have excellent kits covering most jets from the 60’s to new modern aircraft. We still have Airfix kits that have endured the years. Also, Kurt and his resin kits, Welsh and Pas with good offerings.
I find our options for our airliner kits better than ever, with more accuracy than ever as well!
The aftermarket parts, decals, and accessories are very abundant now as well. This is truly a wonderful time for building/buying airliners.
I don’t always say “Proceed as requested”
But when I do, it is because I have no clue what you just said.April 18, 2025 at 11:10 am #248008 -
