It seems to me that with all the problems happening in Russia/Ukraine, a good source for airliner model kits may be lost. Roden, Zvezda and Eastern Express are directly affected by what is happening today. Not to mention the beautiful engine sets that come from Sergey Druz. Subjects we have never expected to see in a kit such as the 757, 720, Viscount and Convair 880/990 and so many others. It’s a real shame because there are people in those countries that share our love for the hobby and now their lives are really affected by what is currently happening. We should at least say a prayer for them because I cant imagine how hard this is for them. When you figure in the sanctions this becomes a recipe for real pain to these individuals that had no say in the decisions their governments made.

All true. I had placed an order for 2 Eastern Express kits 3 days ago on I-modelist Russian site and got a 5 day grace period during which I was obliged to pay with PayPal. I was pondering on whether I should or not go ahead – I was afraid that shipments would get messed up due to the escalating situation. I took a chance and just completed this payment. Hopefully, things will not deteriorate fast enough for this package to leave Russia and arrive to Croatia.Aside from this one-time order, I do regret a real possibility of not being able to access the wonderful EE and Zvezda kits in the near future.
I also feel bad for the common citizens – both Ukrainian and Russian. Politics sucks. Older I get, more I realize there’s more than meets the eye. At least with the history that we have been thought (world history, nationalism, WWII etc.). Makes me wonder about the purpose of common people who enjoy their lives and hobbies (myself included) in this planet and if I am also one of 4 billion “useless eaters”.Peace out and with hope we’ll see happier times with our modeling and with life in general…

February 24, 2022 at 4:22 am #162701i think modelling stuff might not be affected.
Years ago sanctions against russia were established that also affected russian economy, but not modelling. so lets hope the best.

www.cr-models.comFebruary 24, 2022 at 5:34 am #162702My heart just goes out to the people affected. Something as simple as airline scale modeling put me in touch with people all over the world. I was happy to support their efforts and they were a class act to deal with. If I bought something from Sergey he sent it to me with tracking. I love these people and what they have done for our hobby. Don’t much like the little napoleons in the world though, with their aspirations for world domination. You would think that in 2022 they would realize that together we are a much better world when we work together as a team and support each other. I look at the kits in my inventory and realize it may stop at what it is. I was really looking forward to the Eastern Express Electra.. right now it may not happen. The Electra is one of my favorite aircraft. Just pray for these people, it’s all we can do.

February 24, 2022 at 3:43 pm #162704About being affected:
If we cut off Russia from SWIFT we all and retailers can´t pay for any russia goods.
As far as I understand it. I might be wrong.
That really will effect us. Beside a black-market-system.We just can buy what is available now and hope for the best in the future.
Watch MikroMir at Facebook. I can’t believe they are thinking about new models now …For me all this so unbelievable. We had enough war in Europe. Really.
Never thought that might happen during my lifetime.
My thoughts are with friends and their families in Urkraine.Just my thoughts, from Berlin/Germany.

February 24, 2022 at 11:28 pm #162709Im really sorry the world had to come to this awful situation, my thoughts and payers are with all of our Ukrainian colleagues
unfortunately looks like USA aside from the already imposed bans will cease commercial and diplomatic relations with Russia,
but let’s wait for Biden speech in a few minutes.

February 26, 2022 at 5:47 am #162712No one has said the US was severing diplomatic or commercial relations with Russia. Both of those would be last resorts.

February 26, 2022 at 7:26 am #162713This whole situation is new, and it has a lot of moving parts to it, and part of why we’re so bewildered is that it’s been so new and has moved so fast. I imagine there are many efforts taking place behind the scenes and along back channels to calm the waters, some of which we won’t know about for a long time, if ever. I may suggest that those of us who are of such an inclination need to offer a prayer or three on behalf of all those who need it, and that reason and peace will prevail, and soon.
For my part, I am thinking about folks in that part of the world who have become acquaintances and friends through this hobby we share, who have been dragged into this whole mess, and that personal connection is a part of why this whole thing has left me feeling sick. I am troubled by this whole thing but have the luxury of losing myself at my workbench for a while, instead of having to abandon my workbench and defend my homeland. I hope our counterparts can soon return to theirs, in a peaceful and free homeland.

February 26, 2022 at 10:33 am #162715Greetings!
Amen, Jodie, Amen… Prayers are in order instead of me (us?) rather selfishly wondering about the impact on our hobby. Peoples lives, their freedom and their way of life are at stake, and that is the real tragedy I (we?) should really be concerned about.
I share your thoughts and sickening feelings on this.
Prayers for all,

God's "Curse" to aviation!
March 4, 2022 at 11:55 am #162741Hey everyone,
First time posting.
Russian Ebay sellers are no longer shipping to the United States. Most of the photo-etch / decals I was looking for on Ebay were only available through Russian sellers. I bought a number of items on Monday. I then tried to buy one more item from the same seller and was blocked by Ebay. I then found that I couldn’t buy from any Russian seller. Ebay has a notice saying its blocking shipping TO Ukraine and Russia but perhaps it also is blocking new purchases from Russia to US as well.
Also, I came across a distressing message at the top of plastic-models-store.com
If anyone has any tips for buying civil aviation 1/144 photo-etch and decals, let me know. I’m having trouble finding things outside of Ebay.
To any extent, very sad. I don’t know how this ends, but I hope it ends.
