I brought with me to AI2004 some off my modells, to show what I build, and to see how the other guys here build.
I really didnt expect to walk away with a 3rd price.
But, hey Im not complaining.
After meeting Greg, and seeing his decals live, well I burnt some dollars. (money well invested.)
Got myself alot off new projects, cant wait to get them started.
Right now Im working on a Midway 737-700 and a Hawaiian MD95.(717-200) This one is a convorted MD87 from Hasegawa, with engines from a MD90.
Looks almost right, well good enough anyway….
When checking the net for the Midway machine, I found that one off theire -700s was painted up side down.
Its supposed to be blue on top, and yellow in the bottom.
This one is reversed, yellow on top, and blue in the bottom.
Since I only have the decal for theire F100s, I have to paint the cheatline.
These two models have to be ready for a show here in Norway(Kristiansand) by Aug.21st.
After these models, there will be some NG 737s for ATA, COPA, Transavia, and Aloha, not to leave out the Spirit MD80, and my favorite………the MAS Cargo DC-8-71.
That will test my skill and patiance!
For those of you that can go to an AI show, do it.
Its just graet.E. Geicke.

Glad that you made it to AI and had a good time. My friends and I had a great time too. I sent off the results and model photos to The Captain’s Log a few weeks ago. Some funny (for some) behind the scenes stuff was that we didn’t know where the awards were when the judging was going on and were unsure if they’d turn up. Fortunately they did. Mark Hooper and Dave Kessler are notorious for finishing models in their rooms before the contest. Dave finished his but Mark did not. He apparently made a gallant effort but needed a few more hours. When judging was getting ready to start I made a quick look for Mark to make sure he didn’t miss entering. Dave gave me the bad news.
I put some Future on the canopy of my Spruce Goose when it was on the table.

The Captains Log is the magazine published by the WAHS, World Airline Historical Society. Group that puts on the AI shows. $25 for me to join in the US. Articles on pretty much anything related to airline collecting. I’m the model editor as well :-0You don’t need to subscribe to see the photos I sent off. Tony Campbell took them. Ahmed’s got them posted on this site. Click on the latest article. At the top is a guide for articles and a subcategory on Shows and Contests. Ahmed did a good write up and the photos are at the end of it.
