Just got back from the IPMS Nationals in San Marcos TX. Nice selection of airliners (of course could always be more), but what was on display was very high quality.
3 categories:

2nd – B757-200 (John Kizer – Spring, TX)
3rd – SWA 737-500 (Gabe Pincelli – Horseshoe Bay, TX)
1/72, 1/48. 1/32
1st – Junkers F-13 Lufthansa (Steve Hustad – Eden Prairie, MN)
2nd – Lockheed Orion Model 9 (Tim Nelson – Kirkland, WA)
3rd – Dornier DO-17 V-1 (James Fullingim – Killeen, TX)
Basic Kit Build
1st – B737-800 (John Kizer – Spring, TX)
2nd – AA Fokker 100 (Bill Engar – Bountiful, UT)
3rd – Braniff B727 Flying Colors (David Green – Sugarland, TX)
I’ll add photos as I can.

IPMS Marietta Scale Modelers "It's ONLY a Hobby!"August 9, 2023 at 2:38 am #243843Thanks for posting Rob.Β Alex Bigey does beautiful work as do all of the other modelers. I saw the models on Facebook and was particularly “impressed” with the MPC/Airfix 747 in Pan Am colors.Β Β The builder deserves a handshake for entering/showing it at the Nationals π

August 9, 2023 at 12:47 pm #243844I love these airliners, so beautiful. Some of them are also in my shelves.
But the most interesting thing to me is: So many types of “white”.
That is really impressive.
And even that one can see in my shelves. πCheers

August 9, 2023 at 2:31 pm #243845Thanks for sharing! Alex deserves the win for the 748, it’s a masterpiece.
Well done weathering on the Fokker 100, that’s something I need to get better at.
The wavy gravy 764 looks nice, as does the Cargolux 747.
The lights on the 340 and 787 are neat, I like when people do things a bit differently for kicks.

August 9, 2023 at 6:10 pm #243846Of course, there was really only one airline-centric vendor at the show (Greg Joy/Joy Decals). He got a good chunk of my show cash, a lot of it 1/200 stuff… π

IPMS Marietta Scale Modelers "It's ONLY a Hobby!"August 16, 2023 at 10:52 pm #243937The Hawaiian and Delta machines are my two favorites. Thanks for posting. I intend to take a finished kit to KC in 2024 for an airliner show there.

30 years ago I started off with nothing, and I've still got most of it!August 17, 2023 at 3:16 am #243939Thanks so much for posting these photos. Lovely builds and so many too for what is normally considered a niche category at IPMS Nats; the modelers showed great creativity.
