Hi Guys,
I recently picked up an Inflight 200 Continental Airlines 727 in the Golden Jet scheme and I must say, I’m really impressed with the overall quality and accuracy. I know, I know, it’s not the same as building your own, but for someone like me, who hasn’t finished a model in quite a while, it was badly needed. So, I wanted to ask if anyone else is a fan of these and what is your overall impression? I’m really sold on these, and think they’re a real beauty. I’ve been in touch with the owner of the company, and thinking of listing some of these for sale here on the site. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
ahmed

For what ever reason I found that I’m busier today than when I was working full time and raising two daughters. Collecting is also an important aspect of this hobby. Surround yourself with the models that excite you. And Enjoy them!

April 25, 2016 at 10:58 pm #147922I am collecting diecast models and many of them are good. It all depends on the mold, some being quite good and others not quite right.
Window line placement can also be an issue occasionally. Have a look at the Hobby Master Swissair A310 1/200. They are placed too high.
I have done extensive reading in these forums about the Braniff Jellybean colors. Some of the photographic emulsions did not capture them right – back in the 1960s – and this has translated to some diecast models not being 100% faithful to the reality. If you want them just right, you may have to build your own.
DuncanApril 25, 2016 at 11:39 pm #147924I’m all for them! Though I love building models it’s also nice to open up a box and see one not in pieces. My own collection includes dozens of plastic (Herpa, Hogan, etc.) airliners in addition to my models. When it comes to model airliners I’m “all inclusive!!”

April 26, 2016 at 7:59 pm #147937I have many of these premade models and one of the issues I have with many that I see is the cabin window placement. In many cases the doors and windows are way too high and if they were lowered to the proper level it would make the model look so much better. Conversely some cabin windows are too low. It is a breaking point for me.
I like the 1/200 scale and kit wise Hasegawa is the only one who makes airliners in this scale. Unfortunately they only produce kits of the airliners their country’s airline flew, therefore all airliners are not produced.
It would be great if some model making company produced the many airliner kits in 1/200 scale that have not been made.
