Would anybody be able to help with identifying the maker of this resin conversion set?
It measures approx. 295mm long, which would make it 42.48m at 1/144 scale. This places it between an MD-80 at 45.06m, and MD-87 at 39.75m, well short of an MD-90 at 46.5m
The tail is a ‘flat top’, which might indicate MD-87 or MD-90.
It was purchased from Japan.
Any help in identifying the maker, and model would be appreciated.
Thanks

May 5, 2025 at 8:42 pm #248132I can’t help with the maker. What diameter are the engines? Same as a Minicraft MD-80 or fatter like an MD-90? The fat tail should narrow it down to either an MD-87 or MD-90

May 6, 2025 at 12:54 am #248134It appears too long to be an MD-87, and the engine pylons have the shape of those on the MD-90.

May 6, 2025 at 11:30 am #248139Looks like an MD90. Did you measure the length including the fin and horizontal stabilizer overhang?

May 7, 2025 at 6:22 am #248146Thank you for all the tips.
Going by the engine pylons and ‘fatter’ nacelles, it looks to be an MD-90.
The measurements I took were from nose tip to the rudder tip. I have not measured it, but expect that taking into account the horizontal stabiliser overhang then gets this to the 1/144 scale.
Now just have to work out the maker!

As I said in my earlier post I can’t help with a quick ID but you do have my curiosity going. No wings or other “bits” included correct? If no wings then I’d assume one would need a Minicraft MD-80 donor kit which could help narrow down the timeframe.
For conversion kits my first guesses would be Braz and OzMods but I don’t see any record of either making an MD-90 fuselage. Welsh would have made a full kit. Did CBS make a conversion? An MD-90 would be too new for ATP to have made one.
The truth is out there 🙂
