Hi there,
Flap and other control surface lines may need to be scribed, deepened, or enhanced in some other fashion to make them stand out. Once you have painted your wings, stabilizers, etc., you can emphasize those lines by applying a wash, ink, or pencil. Shades of gray seem to work better than black, as black seems too stark.
I also find that scribing the lines for things like wing spars, nose and til cones, and baggage compartment doors makes them easier to mask for painting; for example, paint a wing light gray, put strips of frosted tape over the spar and surrounding area, use a sharp xacto knife run through the scribed panel lines and lift the tape to expose the spar, then paint the spar metallic gray. Remove the rest of the masking to show a neatly painted wing spar.
