Hi,
has anyone done a conversion of a Max 8 into a Max 9?
I got a Zvedzda 737-700 fuselage left and consider using it to make an Alaska Max 9 out of the Zvezda Max-8.
The size difference is 2,64m, which is roughly 1,83 cm in 1/144 which is not a lot. Assuming there’s something to insert both in front and after the wings it seems very tricky to me, as one would have to insert rather small parts.
So any experience or any chart where to cut would be great.

With a quick internet search, I was able to find detailed side views of a MAX 8 & a MAX 9. At this point, the most accurate method is pull the images into a CAD program, superimpose them with the wings at the same point, and you should be able to determine the locations where the additional “plugs” were inserted in front of the wing, and behind it on the MAX 9. Before I could afford TurboCad, or it’s like, I would use a photocopier to enlarge both hardcopy prints to the same scale, put the two pieces of paper against a window on a bright sunny day, and draw out the differences. Should be accurate to +/- .5 millimeter on the plastic. Hope this helps.

Hi Julien
Boeing data – you are correct 737Max9 is 2.64m longer than the Max8 (=18.3mm at 1/144 scale).
Of this the forward fuselage is 1.57m longer (10.9mm at 1/144 scale) and the rear fuselage 1.07m longer (7.4mm at 1/144 scale).
Hope this helps, best of luck with your conversion.
Cheers
Tim

Hi, it’s plain and simple.
I am attaching a photo guided by which you will receive from 737-700 + 737-800 by replacing the central part 737-900 + 737-600.
Att! If you are going to apply decal windows it’s enough. But if you are going to use glass windows, keep in mind that 900 and 900ER differs in having of two additional Type II doors aft of the wing on ER ver., therefore you have to close up two windows.

AbdukarimOops, just got my mistake… I think 737 MAX 9 and 737-900EP should be identical in measurements.
