Hi all,
It’s been a while since we’ve had any articles submitted. We are definitely in need of new Kit Builds, Reviews, etc. I’m sure there are a lot of “builds” happening, please take a few moments to share that with your fellow modelers. These days with digital cameras, etc. it’s very easy to document the steps along the way. It does not have to be exhaustive, just a short description of the steps along the way will do with a few pictures of the finished model. Also, you don’t have to edit the photos. Just send them to me as attachments and I will do all the formatting. Simply state in your article where each photo goes.
We can use some new Walkarounds and Profiles as well. There are many types of new aircraft which we don’t have Walkarounds for. If you have ramp access, please take a few minutes to photograph any aircraft you can. The more detailed photos the better. Again, you don’t have to do anything that’s time consuming with the photos. Zip them up and email to me. I will take care of the rest.
Thanks for your help everyone!
Thanks,
ahmed

The 767 looks great in Delta’s original livery. Hope you guys like it. Thanks Jodie!

May 8, 2015 at 11:56 pm #143656Ahmed, would it work to have a wiki page for certain how-to topics like “different ways to do white paint” or “how to build resin kits?” I have some experiences with both of these, but certainly not an exhaustive list, so it would be good to have a page where contributors could work together on submitting ideas and organizing them into a basic KB. If this site becomes a resource for how-to info, there’d probably be an increase in site traffic and membership.

May 9, 2015 at 5:57 pm #143664Is there a quality requirement?
I have made several threads on conversions and building in flight display stands. I’m not a pro so maybe it’s not what you’re looking for…or maybe I need to sharpen my skills. (They are getting better though!!)

May 9, 2015 at 11:28 pm #143672Hi Merlin,
I’ve thought about it. The only problem is integrating the software with our current system. Otherwise, there will need to be a separate user account for each section of the site. Meaning separate registrations and separate login/logout each time. The alternative would be to code it and that would be a lot of work and require a lot of time – something that I have very little of lately. I will still see if I can find a better solution.
Ninja – no, there really isn’t a quality requirement. As long as the photos are good and there is accompanying text, it’s good enough. I can help format the photos and edit the text as well, if needed. All you have to do is zip them up and email to me. I will take care of the rest.
Thanks,
ahmed

When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king. The palace becomes a circus.May 12, 2015 at 8:26 am #143710Makes sense, no worries. As a workaround, we could probably set up some how-to threads and then aggregate the results into articles.
I’ll try to do a kit review in the next couple weeks.

Anything that could aggregate the collective knowledge of all the members would be fantastic. Whilst I understand that the site administrator probably doesn’t have the time to do the work that’s necessary, surely someone on here does have that skill and time, even if it linked through to another, purpose built site that just dealt with a modelling skills database.
In the meantime, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to answering both mine and other peoples questions in the forum. It has been hugely valuable to me and I appreciate the time and patience of members to help others.

I think I’ll start a few threads and then aggregate the results in an article, seems to be the easiest workaround.
Regarding the advice, amen to that, I’ve learned a lot here, and like to think my advice hasn’t been 100% stupid
