Did no one noticed, that there is written, they will get new typs for “Lufthansa” as well ???
The writing will be new also….!So: 7th of February, late afternoon, there is a LH celebration in Frankfurt and Munich for the presentation.
Very exciting. Isn´t it ?And yes, perhaps in the past Germany was for engeneering. But never, never, never for design !!!!

Yes, exactly. I mean they copied everything else, might as well do the doors also.
Only the billboard titles are missing in that case. Just a matter of time I am afraid, looking at Swiss’ so-called improvement. How progressive was UTA in their days.
Overall I think it is again boring, just like the old scheme. It would have helped if they had at least have the crane fly in front of the yellow sun. So my conclusion is that it is just a waste of money, which they might as well have put in their staff’s pensions.

Yes, UTA’s 1973 DC-10 livery was indeed radical, fresh, clean, frank, bold, entirely in step with the times, and made people sit up and take notice! It remains one of my personal favourites, of which there are many.
But the new Lufthansa look is not only a poor rip-off of UTA’s great 1973 paint. Inasumch as it presumably cost more than a pretty penny, it is a slap in the face of all the employees shifted across to EuroTrash Dump Air in an attempt to cut costs. This makes it downright objectionable.

It looks like Atlas Air with only two colors, different titles, and white engines…. Or that 747 that United used to use for Charters. Absolutely awful.

Most of my colleagues find it awful. Almost all.The new anemic pale crane is a bit thinner or
“a bit more petite” as Lufthansa says (they have to talk it nice
)
and the titles somewhat less compact.
The changes are minimal, almost indistinguishable and barely worth mentioning.All in one: Not the number one hit of the charts!

No. At least not for the moment.
The last (unofficial) information we’ve got is
the yellow of the uniforms as well as the service desks etc.

That’s why they removed it. 😭😭😭😭😭I would say that’s not correct. The yellow was always part of the livery

I never cared much for the Old paint either… However I dislike these even more… There needs to be at least a little more color!

I think the new livery looks quite nice. I think it is simple and quite striking with the dark blue and white.

Yeah, looks pretty blah to me. I was a pretty big fan of the previous colors, even though they were fairly simple. I guess you like what you grew up with (this, Landor BA, United rainbow, etc.).

If anyone comes across a tight closeup of the tail/aft end of the 747-8 in the new colors please let me know. I’m trying to do an illustration of it, and what I see in photos vs. what I can do on my scale drawings isn’t making sense.

I just realized with the parabola retrojet, isn’t that the wrong yellow? I thought the old one is more yellow, and the second-gen Spiegelei was more of an orange. Am I missing something there?

Regarding the bright-Yellow and the orange-Yellow…….wasn’t that changed during the blue cheatline priod in the 80s?
I’m not quite sure, but regarding photos of the 70s the yellow and the blue seems brighter than in the following decade.
After introduction of the now old livery in 1989, the colors itself haven’t changed….(???)@Pridebird; you my have more detials on that?

the touch of yellow was changed with the 1989 livery (the now “old”)
the blue remained the same as the 1968 (the now pre-old) introduced with the 737.The difference between the ’68 and the ’89 yellow is visible at the best
on the 747-8 D-ABYT 70ies retro livery.
I’ll try to catch a pic next time.The yellow of the 50ies/60ies parabola and the ’68 spiegelei looks very similar.
In 1964 was a interim livery with the new cheatline, LUFTHANSA in capital letters
and the parabola on the tail.
The first 2 or 3 737’s were delivered in that scheme.A special exhibition “100 years of crane design” is at the Flight Operations Center – FOC.
I have an off-day tomorrow and it’s the last chance.
There will be a guided tour through the exhibition of employees of the Archives.
Have also some questions about the interior design and colors.Maybe they tell me the RAL codes of the blue and yellow….

Chapeau! What a remarkable “reduce to the minor” design-concept. Some more white whales for a clean, efficient and healthy world. 30 years ago Lufthansa reduced their corporate design from “classic” to “puristic”, by the age of 100 they trust in this proven concept once again. With a selfmade birthday present, by reducing the Lufthansa Brand from “puristic” to “nothing”. Less can be more, but sometimes less isn’t more than less. Sad enough: It’s not even bad – it’s nothing. Nothing more, nothing less. Happy Birthday Lufthansa!
There would be nothing more to say about that, IF there wasn’t this funny Interview with some of Lufthansa’s Head of Design-Head-Ofs, I saw the other day. This interview uncovered “the pain of the crane” and the secret of the lost yellow, which disappeared under tragic circumstances. Good news first: Yellow got lost while working on the new design, but was found again under tons of new design-blueprints. weak but alive, with the will to survive, being restored and saved for a better future. It will be Lufthansa’s new shiny superstar, making all the important things more important by marking them bright and yellow, living the life of a grownup signalcolor, instead of being the little sister of a dominant blue brother. Not an the planes, but everywhere else. Important colors for important things: Flush-Buttons, airsickness-bags or revolutionary yellow instead of red “remove before flight tags” for instance. Just to name a few things to remark (a guess).
But here’s the ONE real thing, why Lufthansa’s new livery is much more than a rebranding. I call this “HUGBALD – human greatness by animal-loving design”. I listened and learned more from the wise man (the LH head-of-head-offs): “With this new logo the Lufthansa-Crane will be no longer captured (a victim of his own brand?) by the thickness of the circle he stays in (cage?). Therefore we made the line thinner. Now he can spread his wings and fly ….”.
(I missed “to infinity and beyond”. Poor old Lufthansa-crane. How could he stand this pain for so many years? Without a single complaint.)Questions so far:
1. Which vitamins do Lufthansa creatives take, to reach a level of consciousness that high?
2. Are they legal?
3. If yes: How are the called, are they available at normal grocery stores?
4. If no: Will these pills also be available for eco-passengers, or are they part of a new and exclusive onboard entertainment for business and first class travelers only?
5. Is someone out there to be impressed by this outdated “dot.com-marketing-bla-bla”?
6. More relevant: Who makes the decision for buying this crap (the design concept; not the pills) and pays money for it?
7. Is it still “Mrs. CEO”, the charity-approved, charming expert for almost everything, who supports her beloved husband with final marketing and branding decisions? (at companies, where “CFOs” are the new “CEOs” rather normal than special)An interesting development takes place in a world, where “branding is everything”, through all the branches. Looking for Uniqueness, every company looks the same, does the same and sells identical products. Working on trademarks and branding for the last 20 years I really have to say: I couldn’t not agree more with this strategy.
The word “color-scheme” is getting obsolete for modern airline liveries. Without the diversity of modern civil aircraft design, there would be no reason to build a modern airliner
Jennings, please do your “lightgrey crane over white background livery”! It will be the ultimate branding, the iconic new mother of industrial artwork, the peak of corporate design. And it will last for decades. It worked for the beatles for 50 years, it will work for so many other brands too!

and not the best light conditions.I’ve seen that retro 321 in person a few times, I think it still looked too orange, but D-ABYT looks like the correct yellow. That one will probably be next on my “to build” list

1. It looks purposeful and direct, so I’ll go with “red bull” or the stuff that they gave the U-2 pilots (think flying in a 7-knot coffin corner for 7 hours…)
2. Name something that was created by someone on legal drugs
3. Define “grocery store….”
4. I think you’re best advised to finish them before security
5. I’m glad they finally started getting rid of the “lufthansa.com” BS, that looked awful. Based on how long they had that, I can’t say I think their design team was super brilliant (or they got overruled by the web team)

Looks almost black under various light conditions.
That became clear in the 2-weeks test phase now

Discussing the shade of blue at Lufthansa is so awkward as the only problem is the missing yellow.We have talented renditions here … Jennings, just for the look of it, could you take your rendition and make the white Kranich yellow.
