Dear All,
I finally registered as a new A.Cafe member after passively reading for too long.
A few of you already know me either through e-mail or in person. To introduce myself quickly, I am an aviation enthusiast and spotter since 1985
based in Hamburg, Germany. I work as a scientist on climate research and have two
very passionate hobbies: Landscape photography and aircraft modelling.I am in love with everything that Kurt’s magic hands are producing. Being a quality nerd
I basically focus on building models from Authentic Airliners. As I also love Russian
airliners I enjoy building Zvezda’s TU-154, TU-134 and IL-62 kits as well.Currently I am working on a few projects and one them is Kurt’s amazing DC-10.
I wanted to share the work in progress with you and also wanted to say thank you for all the
very interesting topics I was reading before I finally joined here.I look very forward to interesting discussions with all of you here,
Cheers,
Christian
Here comes a first image of the current status of Kurt’s DC-10, its just a pure joy to build her.
Progress is however slow because of limited time. The blue cheatline is airbrushed. Window decals are from Authentic Airliners. Lufthansa decals are a mixture of 26 Decals and Classic Airliners. Weathering and decaling is not finished yet.

Amazingly beautiful build, I can’t wait to see it done!
A very nice job on the airbrushed cheat line! I’m a fan of that, I do it from time to time instead of decals.
A very nice DC-10 sir.

Liam

Moin moin und Wilkommen! That’s quite a list you got there. Might I ask which LH 707 type and scheme you’re planning to do?

March 15, 2016 at 1:26 pm #147336Moin moin,
sure, it’s the 707-330 D-ABUH in the standard black nose 80’s scheme just like the DC-10.
I will post images soon.
As you know Kurt is currently doing the 707-430 in the old Lufthansa yellow/blue cheatline scheme
so we can set them both aside ))Christian

October 24, 2016 at 4:34 pm #149559Progress is ever so slow but I managed to finalize the tail and to add a few details to the fuselage.
The fuselage still misses a lot of details.
The wings are in the finishing steps as well, more on them when they are ready.D-ADGO named Bonn
The decals are a wild mix of Classic Airlines, 26 decals, Authentic Airliners Decals. The cheatline is painted.
The tail and fuselage are weathered using original photos as a reference.
If you right click on the image and select “view image” and further click on the + you see her in 1280 px resolution! Many more details seen then )
Cheers,
Christian

October 24, 2016 at 9:22 pm #149564Paolo,
for the DC-10 I used the Lufthansa blue Revell 350 and the Tamiya light grey.
The MD-11 is Lufthansa grey Revell 374, a self-made coroguard mix and 11 different shades of silver.Gruß von der Waterkant in die Eifel,

October 26, 2016 at 4:23 am #149569Nice, NICE ! Real NICE work and beautiful finish. If I can state one minor fault I find is in your choice of the cartoon-like 3-D cabin window decals and windscreen. I am seeing more and more use of these and still can’t reconcile that they add any positives to the finished build. I am open for criticism on that point I am sure. I have not been impressed with the effect provided in the many samples I have seen. But overall beautiful build. Keep up the good work.
