Okay, so I said we (fündekals) weren’t going to do any more LU decals. And we aren’t. I’m doing these two, as I’m doing the Braniff jellybean BAC 1-11 sheet, as something I want for my own use, and I’ll sell them to whoever wants to buy them. As with the 1-11, I’m not going to do any instruction sheets. Anyone who is sophisticated enough to use aftermarket decals on an airliner model in 2021 is sophisticated enough to find the same photos I’ve used for reference. Pretty much everything is self-explanatory in any event.
I’ll be sending these to Cartograf shortly, and should have them back sometime shortly after the upcoming holidays. I’ll post more as I know it.
Here’s a closeup of the windscreen frame:

October 15, 2021 at 5:41 am #161842Those look awesome! One suggestion: you’ve got the N7**TW series registrations in there, which were the four-door versions. If you’re going to do those, I’d recommend adding the L3/L4 door outline as well:

October 15, 2021 at 7:44 pm #161852These are terrific, Jennings! And I’m very pleased they are suitable both for those who like filled windows and those of us who like them clear! I would like to buy an AA set when they become available.
Best regards,
Kurt

October 15, 2021 at 10:54 pm #161855Excellent! I may need some of these…any chance to include the “757 LuxuryJet” titles for those of us into that sort of thing?
Thanks for your work in this obscure hobby that we all enjoy!

As far as i can see this seems to be the only correct 757 windshield, not only by shape but also by details and different metal colors.
you should seriously consider a detail sheet (including cabin window frames). i’d be in for those with at least 14 pcs.best regards

you should seriously consider a detail sheet (including cabin window frames). i’d be in for those with at least 14 pcs.About all I could do right now is a sheet with windows, windscreen, and door outlines. I used to have paper copies of all of the maintenance stencils, but I lost all that in my house fire. I hadn’t ever gotten around to scanning it. If people are interested in just windows and doors, let me know..
As I mentioned, no existing 757 decal has doors that will accurately fit the Zvezda fuselage (the L1/R1 and L4/R4) because of the compound curvature of the fuselage in those areas. If you put a rectangular door decal there, it’s going to look all screwy.

October 16, 2021 at 1:03 am #161860No disrespect to anyone but why do we need another sheet of 757 windows when superb photo-real cockpit and cabin windows for the 757-200 and 300 are available from Authentic Airliner Decals?

October 18, 2021 at 12:31 am #161888Jennings,
may I ask if you could consider these for your awesome 757 project decals as well?
They turn out to be the most desired and missing US-based liveries from my little survey here.
I’m aware that the Flintstone cactus scheme is a particularly challenging livery but its seriously beautiful. I’m in for the fancy painting that you mentioned.Cheers and thanks,
Christian

www.christianklepp.comOctober 18, 2021 at 3:35 am #161891You may ask, but I’m done I’m afraid. The America West scheme would take an enormous decal with all those wavy stripes on the aft end. Better suited to laser printing or somebody else’s effort at silkscreen art.

October 18, 2021 at 12:04 pm #161897Jennings,
the wavy grey stripes could easily be painted, they just require a lot of tape, a bit of patience and an attack with the spray gun.
That would significantly reduce the size of the decal sheet.
The green paint is available from Xtra Color.Ray from 26decals once did the A320 screen-printed decals in this livery – its a beautiful sheet – and I may abuse it to do a 737-300 as they don’t fit the size of the 757.

Christian

www.christianklepp.comOctober 19, 2021 at 7:57 am #161907The America West green/turquoise is no longer listed on the Hannants web site. Lacking any other source for a color as unique as that, I’d be loathe to do decals for it.

October 19, 2021 at 12:41 pm #161909Jennings,
the Xtra Color numbers are “dark turquoise X347” and “pearl grey X346”.
To my understanding these two tones you do not need for the decals as they are the areal fuselage colors.
What would be needed is the lighter turquoise color code for the “W” on the engine and the lighter colored tail stripes. What I could try is to measure the RGB or Hex code for this color in Photoshop. Does that make sense? Would that be useful?
Averaging from many different sources I may be able to get a best estimate for the color.Cheers,
Christian

Oooh… I didn’t realize that! Let me work on it and see if I can squeeze that in. Might just pretend they never flew those birdsHa ha that could work. I think it was just the late-90s ex-TWA PW birds (30ish) that had the four-door layout in AA colors, maybe a small handful of the ex-America West or US Airways RR birds. It’s possible those all got retired or repainted in the piano-key scheme.

Sure that would be awesome!I started a little survey on potentially missing 757 decals here
https://www.airlinercafe.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=11831&n=unread#unread
and it turned out that the most often mentioned schemes(among others)areAmerica West Flintstones turquise/orange
US Air (red cheatline)
Icelandair Hekla AuroraThese three liveries certainly demand for screen-printing, so that for example the white US Air tail titles come as a separate opaque decal so one can paint the blue tail for best results.
Thanks a lot for eying and considering!

Christian

United Boeing-757s also had the word ETOPS above fleet number on the nose below the cockpit. For UPS B-757 can you include the older logo plus Worldwide Services/ Synchronizing the World of Commerce titles? Thx J.

October 25, 2021 at 12:25 am #161958Too late on the ETOPS United. I was aiming for the late 1980s, before ETOPS was certified on the 757. None of the photos I had showed any ETOPS markings.
Here’s the final version of the brown 757…

No one asked me but I’ll bring it up anyway. Why don’t you pass on the Minicraft 757 and get a Zvezda one instead? The Minicraft kit gets really BAD reviews.

You mentioned in the 757 decal wish list thread that you’d done some artwork for USAir. Will those also be part of the batch that’s coming soon?

November 4, 2021 at 10:49 pm #162054No, the USAir will be later.
Re the Minicraft kit – the Delta nose stuff and the windshield decal will absolutely not fit on it correctly. Do yourself a favor and get the Zvezda kit.

If that’s the case, I may just switch schemes then, as I don’t want to get into buying more and more stuff, when airliners aren’t really my bag anyway. (You seem to be holding up rather well for someone that’s 119.)
