Can anyone send me a scan of the Airfix DC9 instructions or direct me to a good online scan of them? Found one poor scan on Scalemates which doesn’t show the “fiddly” wing underside parts which is what I don’t want to screw up 🙂

Well….Nevermind…..
Found a Carmichael instruction sheet on Scalemates. Can’t find out how to delete my original post just yet so here’s the instruction link instead 🙂

This is a kit that I wish Airfix would re-release. I always thought the Airfix DC-9 was one of the best kits out there.

Thank you Uwe,
Glad I checked the instructions. What I thought was an antenna on the sprue turns out to be part of the nose gear 🙂Ken

For a kit released in the early 70s I agree it’s more than satisfactory. The most obvious issues are very thick landing gear doors and the forward cargo door is in the wrong location.

Continuing to “slog” through my Airfix DC-9. Does anyone have a close up of an assembled nose gear? I’m curious exactly how parts 47 and 48 look put together. Not 100% certain of what is parts and what should be trimmed off 🙂
The kit is a bit of a bear taking quite a bit more putty than I expected and more fiddly parts. Any suggestions from people who’ve built the kit? Can I leave the horizontal stabs and engines off and assemble them after painting?

Hi Ken,
Even with the flaws, the kit builds into a nice looking DC-9. The engine pylons are a bear to deal with, and the parts you asked about look good when finished.
If you haven’t before, read through my article about the Aristocrat DC-9 in the modeling articles. I go back and read it from time to time to remember what I did, since that model was built in 1997.
I’ll try to get you a better photo of the nose gear so you can see the finished parts.
