Just wandered through my new local hobby shop. They have a few Atlantis 727 kits for sale. I know they are not the -200 on the picture, and are the old Aurora kits, re-popped. I want to buy one to support this store and airliners, but need to find a decal for it. I did a quick but not thorough search, no hits from our usual suspects for a decal. Any help? I would prefer a US airline, but anything will pique my interest.

But when I do, it is because I have no clue what you just said.February 16, 2026 at 2:38 am #251027Vintage Flyer makes some. I just took a quick look to confirm and he makes a set for the Eastern delivery scheme. There are probably more. https://vintageflyerdecals.com/index.html

February 16, 2026 at 3:44 am #251028To be specific, the plastic is actually from the Monogram folks, after Monogram purchased the molds from Aurora. Monogram made a few slight improvements to the Aurora plastic, like adding the wing fences to the leading edges.
The Aurora 727 was my 2nd airliner kit (their 747 was first). There wasn’t any way you were going to convince my 10-year old self that the model wasn’t anything but dead-on accurate. Ah, the innocence of youth!
Cheers!

February 16, 2026 at 6:17 am #251032Thanks Ben. I had checked Vintage Flyer, of course all the decals I looked at were not listed in 1/96 scale. It looks like Eastern, AA, and Continental delivery schemes are the only ones he has in 1/96. I’ll have to pick one of those.

Also, I’ve been toying with the idea of updating the original Aurora decals that came with the kits. These would be more accurate representations and would fit all of the “quirks” of the Aurora kits. Aurora offered the 727 in United, TWA, American, Eastern, Lufthansa (Holland release), Air Canada and CP Air (Canadian releases). TWA twin stripes scheme was offered by Monogram.
Thanks,
Mike
