I've "built" the Microscale and Glencoe 880 kits. In the middle of the F-RSIN kit too.

Does anyone have thoughts/build reviews of the Eastern Express kit? Any available at the usual vendors AHS..Russell? I find the Ebay business model frustrating but it is what it is. The Eastern Express kits are a bit more expensive than the F-RSIN ones.

Might ask as well too. Any 880's from Authentic Airliners "in the pipeline"?

The Convair jetliners are an enigma. Beautiful planes as well as an utter economic disaster for General Dynamics.

      Hi Ken,

I have started the Eastern Express CV-880 kit. It is pretty good, specially for an EE Kit. Same lack of locator pins and lots of sanding to get the fuselage to look correct. It does appear to scale out to a 1/144 CV-880 based on my crude measurements. I like the way they did the engine rings for the front. That will make painting and detailing the engines a little easier. Landing gear detail looks good. I have not gotten that far yet.

The decals are typical EE and I recommend going with Vintage Flyer Decals. I am doing mine in the TWA Delivery Livery.

I have an AA CV-990. Beautiful kit! I asked Kurt some time ago if he was going to do a CV-880. At that time, he was not.

I have the F-Rsin CV-880 Kit and I did a F-Rsin CV-990 which came out very good as well. It appeared to be a bit under scaled but built into a very nice model.

I think that the EE Kit is a good kit, but as you pointed out, a bit pricey. But if you want a decent CV-880 in 1/144 scale, those are the two choices.

      Good Luck,
