      Hi

I intend to do the Welsh kit in these colors:

      http://www.airliners.net/photo/Crossair/Saab-Fairchild-SF-340A/0183998/L/&sid=b29bd7a1acc1001d97086d35c03236ef

There are some drawings above and below the wings.

      Does anybody have some pictures?

      Thanks in advance,

      Gerard

I don't have any info but that would be a fun model to put into a contest - the judges won't believe the paintjob should look that messy

Must be a hard to find reference. Herpa didn't worry about the wings with their 1/200 die cast :

Meanwhile, back in Reality, there is, what looks like the same `fuselage' cloud under each wing:

I'll keep my eyes peeled for `from above' shots.

Do you know what year that paint job came out?
I remember Airways or Airliners Magazine had an article about that plane or Crossair
but I do remember some pictures from above.
Let me find the year and go into my dungeon with some Scotch and I will search all my magazines.

I might even have a post card of it.
Oh boy. that might be another bottle! ;)

The oldest picture on airliners.net is may 1991, 1991 being the year of the 700th birthday of Switzerland.

This special scheme was done to celebrate this birthday.

      Walter, thank you for research.

nielsamd: we, modeller, don't do shortcut in research like Herpa!...

Ok so a very educational day of research.
Airways Magazine first issue, 1994 so no luck there.
Airliners Magazine first issue 1988, so on the 1991 issue a very simple picture of the Saab 340.
I found a picture of the underside right wing of the Crossair Saab 340, I scanned it, it is 6 MB but
the site wont let me uploaded it.
      Ill fight with it tomorrow.
I have another bunch of books to research tomorrow!
Pretty weird that that particular paint job is not well documented!

Get your hands on the following book:

      H. Burgi and M Kalberer (1998), ColorBirds, BUCHairSeries 2.

It has pictures from both top and bottom, made in flight, on pages 44/45.

      Best regards,
      Pieter de Wilde

(retired from modelling since 2005 but still watching the forums)

Yes Pieter that is the book!
I finally found it last night.
I forgot how great that book is.

Gerard, I can not figure out how to make the scans small enough to upload.
Please PM me your e-mail address and I send you the pictures.

Or if you decided to buy the book, not a bad investment
