Very welcome news, can't wait to get this kit! Thank you Zvezda!

I noticed the 'Ultimate Kit' logo on the box lid. I think this is good marketing by Zvezda. While this kit is *just* an A320, the cockpit, pax door and flaps features are a great initiative by Zvezda.

Bring on the IL-62!

Just received the kit. It is suberb and worth every cent! What I especially love in this kit is the correct shaped CFM56 engines and a good nose shape. Add cockpit interior, dropped flaps and slats to that and we have a winner.

Spasiba Zvezda!

Juha

Now if only Daco could do the decals for the Zvezda kits! There are just a few aftermarket sheets that are as complete as his sheets.
I won't buy this A320 anytime soon but it really promises for their Il-62 and Il-72!

I just received the kit yesterday and it is as most of you said a very nice kit with quite a few new features compared to Revell's kit. One thing I didn't know or had heard of yet was that the kit come with two landing gears. One "normal"for when it is on the ground and one "in air" as if on approach with the gear extended further out.

The box was also a surprise. When I wanted to open it I noticed it was a one piece carton of which you can only open the sides just like Revell's current boxes. However, when one side was opened you get nice brown carton box with a lid that can be closed again. Not that I would but this kit specifically for the box, but it is a nice addition and makes it more difficult to loose parts.

Just wanted to share this with you guys.

Hey Guys I just got two of the Zvezda's A-320 kits damn..... I give dem 99 out of 100, all these kits are nice but my one problem is the fragility of the landing gear.. have to try a magic with the metal landing gears on this kit.. but everything else I give it a 10/10 excellent....

The A320 seems to have both, GE and RR

Euh, sorry but the answer is neither... The current a320 series is either equipped with IAE or CFM engines. The exception is the A318 which has either the CFM or PW engines.

Indeed. The CFM ones look like the GE engines on contemporaneous planes (767, 744), and the IAE look like the integrated mixer design of the RB 211 and Trent 700, but they are no Rollers.

I though IAE was 32.5% RR and PW, then smaller chunks MTU and JAE until PW bought out the consortium.

Can't find the link anymore.
But think there were some test shot pics - as I remember right.
But I'm not 100% sure anymore....but I know my first thought was
"It's not one of ZVEZDAs ULTIMATE KITS - why?"

They would have had to modify the wing flaps to recreate the double-slotted flaps. They are quite fiddly on this scale so it's a lot cheaper for them to tool a 'clean' A321 wing. Let's just be happy there will be another new high quality airliner kit!

They call it an ultimate kit. Control surfaces are position able as well as the leading and trailing edge flaps. Very nice!

Maybe I was wrong! Sure, I was wrong! I saw the moulds (probably) here:
http://scalemodels.ru/articles/8623-obzor-zvezda-1-144-Airbus-A321.html
Had only a glance into the box with plastic wrapped moulds.
Thought it's not an "Ultimate Kit".
AND I KNOW WHY I WAS WRONG!
Compare the box art above with the box art here: http://pas-decals.ru/forum/18--/6404-a-321-zvezda-1-144#17723
See the difference and solve the riddle!

That's quite the review. Is "sharkskin" a common term in Russian modeling, or is that a googleism?

Sven, I suspect they just changed the box art logo at some point. Occam's Razor.

Also, is it just me or does this kit have a better cockpit section accuracy than the Revell kit? The one-piece glazing seems like a better bet than just wedging in the window into a gap.

Steve,

The chevrons are the little jagged edges at the exhaust nozzle.
