      Hello Everyone,

Which engines did the Delta MD-11's have? I am thinking about an EE MD-11 kit and was wondering if the American or KLM kit was correct for Delta.

      Thanks,

      Mark

      Hi Mark
The Delta MD-11s had Pratt & Whitney 4460s.
It is also the nterting t note the first 2 Delta MD-11s were leased from
Tombo Aviation and had GE-CF-6s. They were used primarily
For training and flew from m ATL-FL routes.

Both AA and KL had GE engines, so I'd look for a kit with Pratts.

EE show a picture of a Japan Airlines 'J-Bird' MD-11, which was powered by P&W's, on the side of the box of one of their other MD-11's, so it's reasonable to assume that a P&W version is in their plans. Failing that, Welsh Models have a set of MD-11 P&W's scheduled for release in the near future.

      Mark,
the AA MD-11 with PWs is available!
I just bought another one to do Korean Air Cargo.

Its the GE that comes back soon.

Its worth every penny if you are into quality!

You can get your PW MD-11 here:

Back when the EE kit came out I believe someone found out a Pratt-powered release would be coming. (Both of my MD-11 flights were aboard Pratt-powered Delta aircraft, hence my interest.)

I had no idea DL operated an MD-11 with GEs. Also not sure I knew they had them with the "Delta" titles on the #2 Engine Nacelle. Thanks!

Nice Pic! Probably one of the first two that they bought which had GE Engines as was mentioned above. I have the GE MD-11 from AA in an American Airlines Livery. It is a really nice kit so I am leaning that way. I am looking to build this livery:

      http://www.airliners.net/photo/Delta-Air-Lines/McDonnell-Douglas-MD-11/2475771/L?qsp=eJwtjMEKwkAMBf8lZw8WQaQ3Ra/qwR8Im4cWq7skgbqU/rtx8TbMwMyU8tvx8VstoJ4MrOlBKyqs/DLqZ3qiTlklmM67dXc8RbWsfqhhhB37lFAc8vcXFegvwVIb3WPcBUCvjWmzDS%2BDlZHbA87DSMvyBQcFLgs%3D

Not my favorite Delta Scheme but I have a pretty large Delta collection in 1/144 so it is at least unusual.

Thanks for all of the info!!!

That's the same livery I have in mind, as that's how Delta's MD-11s looked during my trips on them. The only decal I've seen in 1:144 for that livery was in a reissue of the Welsh Models MD-11, but not having seen anything other than the profile on the Welsh Models website I can't attest to how the decal itself looks. I have been working on my own version for my Authentic Airliners kit, since I'm wanting to build Ship 812 ("The Centennial Spirit"), which carried that name in small titles after it was repainted out of the Atlanta Olympics scheme.

      Hi Jodie,

Russel at Airline Hobby Supplies has this listed. I verified with him that it that color scheme in the pic I posted above. It is the Welsh Models Decal of N801DE. Russel told me via email that he would have it in stock in a few weeks.

Hmm, this all sounds very familiar. A couple of years ago AHS had the 26 Court Line BAC-111 decals listed as 'in stock'. I ordered them and received an email from Russell stating that they were temporarily out of stock but he was going to order some from Ray at 26 and would have them in a week or so. This was patent nonsense as they weren't even listed on 26's website and, being silk-screened, couldn't just be printed off by Ray himself. He would have to order another print run from the printer, which, coincidentally, he has just done, several years down the line.

This Delta decal doesn't appear to be available from Welsh Models. If it was, Densil would have it listed on his website. I hope I am wrong and that you are successful in getting your decal, but, in view of the above, I would take anything Mr Brown has to say with a very large pinch of salt.

Maybe this is just a matter of adjusting the timeline to the correct year...?
Now Ray has excellent Court Line Bac 111 silk-screen decals available for all color variations ...

      Well,

Hopefully it will work out. I have not had any problems with AHS in the past although it can be a bit slow sometimes. I will keep you posted when the decal arrive.

      Thanks,

      Hi all,
I am looking for GE engines for my 1/200 Hasegawa MD11 which I will do in KLM livery.
A kit with the 2 engine options is also ok.
      Thanks in advance,
      Kind regards
      Gus

      Well,

Got the decals for the Delta MD-11 today. They look pretty dang good. They are the 26 Decals set that comes with the Welsh Models MD-11.

Many Thanks to Russell at Airline Hobby Supplies!
