I am slowly progressing with the 340-600/500 kit. This is the very basic fuselage. A lot of filling, sanding and priming is still required before I can start detailing it. As it is such a huge aircraft, progress will be slow, hence do not expect more pictures very soon.

This list may not be complete. However, the -500 will be released later as well. This will give you some more options.

Many thanks! I'm definitely interested in the -500. I hope the DC-10s and MD-11s (GE) will be back soon, too. I'm glad you seem to be feeling much better judging from the new releases coming up.

Vertical fin and stabilisers finished. To compare the sizes, an A330 stab is on the right sight. The little hump on the upper leading edge of the vertical fin is the in-flight camera.

Was the AC A345 ever in the toothpaste colors? I thought they were in an interim scheme with the toothpaste tail and a white fuselage.

Regarding the time, I should have more once I'm done with my instrument rating. My wallet would be much happier as well, building kits is much cheaper per flight hour.

Nope, neither of AC's A340-500s ever wore full "toothpaste" colors. They both ended up in the hybrid livery with the old fuselage and new tail before they were retired.

How does one go about painting those resin engine beauties? Is there some trick to the masking? I assume they come cast in one piece.

      Gerry,
that is the beauty about Kurt's kits,
the engines come in several pieces so that you can paint and detail the fan and engine interior separately without any trouble.
After painting, these pieces go together so smoothly that not even sanding or filling is required!

Its a pure joy to build and every time again a miracle to me how Kurt is able to do that

And if there is some slight mismatch in aligning the pieces just put them into almost boiling water for a moment and press them into place with your fingers -- during dry fitting before painting of course.

      Cheers,
      Christian

A small update as the tail cone is finished. Please observe the differently shaped areas around the stabs and the APU exhaust compared to the other Airbusses.

Echoing Merlin, this is a stunning and beautiful big beast!

I was holding this master in my hands a couple of weeks ago - and although we all know how long the -600 is - I was deeply impressed how huge this kit is! The amount of work that Kurt spent over this kit can never be represented by its price tag.

This is another jet where we can admire what Kurt is capable to do!

      Cheers,
