Just read the news that John Wegg, the aviation historian/author with a penchant for all things civil has passed away...

Yes. I saw that earlier this week. I've got every issue of Airways.

John's well-researched and illustrated writings are always an interesting read of the highest quality; also a great photographer. Sad to hear of his passing. Yet another reminder that we're all getting older.

Agreed Todd. I was an early subscriber to World Airline Fleets monthly in the late '70s/early '80s and John's photos captured the latest news in the US airline industry. Sorry to learn of his passing.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Wegg's passing. His work was truly inspirational and his piece on the Caravelle was absolutely breathtaking. He will be deeply missed.

A very sad loss to all airliner enthusiasts.
To me, John Wegg meant knowledge and quality, things that shone through in all his work.
All his books and publications will remain forever as a memorial to John.

      RIP sir

Speaking of John Wegg's Caravelle book, it is easily arguable that it is the best, most comprehensive and well-illustrated book on an airliner subject ever published.
