I wonder how they'll compare to the Doyusha.

It's certainly priced like the Doyusha!

Alan, I think very favourably from the very little I've seen in the way of early shots. Doyusha has a too-short nose (a damned hard fix), a geometry that is skewed lengthwise (critical in the F.27 because of its dorsal and different fore-and-aft fuselage ssections), weird engine and landing gear arrangements, plus very rudimentary landing gear. Fingers crossed (though my eyesight will probably not permit me returning to the subj. in 1/144th scale).

The F-27 is one of those airplanes that appears to be cursed. No model kit manufacturer has ever gotten it right. The ancient Airfix kit was the closest, but itís almost 60 years old and has issues of its own. The F-27 isnít a particularly difficult shape, or an airplane thatís hard to find data on. Before my house fire I had a complete set of fuselage, wing, engine nacelle, and empennage station diagrams for it with every dimension you could wish for on it.

Quite a few "cursed" types have recently been kitted properly, and the F27 looks set to be the next one (fingers crossed!).

The drawings and dimensions you mention are available for a song on ebay and elsewhere. I used them to draw the F27 (et alia) in 2010.

Any difference in dimensions pales into insignificance compared to the difference in price.

EE kit with kit decals, £49.99 from Hannants.

EE kit re-boxed with superior decals, £21 from 26 models.
