Anyone know for certain how many -100QFs (with the Tay engines) were converted by Dee Howard? According to Wikipedia, one private aircraft was converted, with the rest going to UPS. I've looked high and low and I can't find out how many conversions were done. Dee Howard is now out of business...

Hi Jennings, this is quoted from the Osprey Civil Aircraft series titled "Baby Boeings" by Robbie Shaw. On page 22, the book states "United Parcel Service (UPS) has gone even further by contracting the Dee Howard Company to refit all 44 of its -100Cs with Rolls Royce Tay 651 engines - these aircraft are known as 727QFs..." I have no way of confirming for you if all 44 were converted. Romy "We travel the world over in search of what we need, yet return home to find it." |

This is a list of the UPS 727s in 1994. The last three types listed were not covered by the Dee Howard STC, so I don't know if they were replaced with other 727s. -22C 8 airplanes -25C 4 -27C 8 -30C 4 -31C 6 -51C 4 -62C 2 -108C 1 -173C 1 -180C 2 -185C 1 -21C 1 -172C 1 -1A7C 1 Total 44 airplanes |
