Hi, I haven't been active on this forum for more than 2 years. I want to build a Korean Air 747-8i model from Revell. However, I cannot find the appropriate blue for the fuselage. What color is it for the paint?

is there an alternative to that particular paint? They don't sell it here in the US and its an enamel base paint which will take long time to dry.

It has been a while since I did my Korean Air 737-900 but I recall using Testors Gloss Light Blue spray 1208 and it looks pretty close.

      Good Luck,

      Mark,
may I ask which decals you used for your Korean 737-9?
I am not aware of any narrowbody Korean decals except for the F100.
      Must be a beautiful bird!

      Cheers,
      Christian

      Hi Christian,

I used a set of 1/200 777 Korean Air Decals for a 1/144 737-900 I scratch built from a 1/144 737-800. I had generated the plugs from cutting up a 1/144 737-800 to make into a 1/144 737-700. That assumed, inaccurately I think, that the plug created doing the 737-700 is the same size as a plug to insert for a 737-900. It looks nice enough though. I have an Authentic Airliners 737-900 somewhere in the closet that I will use to replace the Korean Air jet. It turned up missing after the move last summer.

I have a one of my color reference paint sticks with a sample of the Korean Air Blue from the old Aerocolors paints. When I compared it to the Testors 1108 Light Blue, the Korean Air Blue is much lighter, maybe 1108 light blue mixed 30 to 50 percent with gloss white.

Sometimes I think it's not just much lighter, but a drop of yellow would help bring it to its turquise character.

      Regards
