I am finishing a Revell DC-8-61 and had a failure of my old ATP Eastern decals. They appeared in really great condition, and I coated with Microscale decal film. They were still very brittle, and large areas would just shatter. I now want to paint the fuselage stripes. Does anyone know what paints are close matches for the two colors?

      Thanks,
      Randy

The dark (Ionosphere) blue has a decidedly purple cast to it, and is fairly dark. That should be easy enough to match with some dark blue, red, and possibly a touch of black.

The Caribbean Blue is going to be tougher. It's a very hard color for decal artists to match. It took me three or four tries to get a color I liked out of Microscale back in the day. I'm not aware of any model paint that's anywhere close.

Thanks for the input Jennings. I think I may have found a close match for the Carribean blue. Testors has a Turquoise enamel that I believe was in the car paint section. However, I have not had a chance to paint a sample to compare with the decals I had intended to use.

      Try TESTORS 1208 Light Blue.

Not really very close. EA Caribbean Blue has a lot of green in it.
