Thought I'd give this guy a second chance after he stiffed me out of some money a couple of years ago. Placed an order to the tune of about $250 and never received the goods. He never returned calls or emails and never offered a refund. I had to finally get my money back through my CC company after several months.

So, last couple of months, I placed an order from his web site again because I heard he was much better and had made amends for past mistakes. Both items showed "in stock" so I bought them. when my order arrived, only one item in the box and the other "back ordered." I needed that particular decal set so I went through another vendor.

Two months later, I get an email telling me my decals are in stock and I should send more money. I responded by letting him know I had purchased through another vendor. His response:

I appreciate that you let me know before I bought them for you..... if you ever "wonder why" I don;'t have the capital to keep everything in stock all the time, now you know. I now have two copies in stock.

      Thanks!

Well, that says it all. I'll take my business elsewhere.

I have had very similar problems with him, and voiced it here, at him, and elsewhere. I can't believe anyone still gets any service, or supports this guy.

A similar thing happened with me. Although I had bought stuff from him years ago without any problems, I was acutely aware of other members' recent problems so I had steered clear of him. About a year ago I decided to have a look at his catalogue and was surprised to see that he had the 26 Decals Court Line BAC 1-11's listed as 'in stock' so I ordered a set along with some other decals. Shortly afterwards I received an email from him saying that the Court Line decals were sold out but he would order them from Ray and have them for me in a couple of weeks. This was, of course, utter nonsense as they were silk-screened decals which had disappeared off the 26 website long ago and no re-print run was forecast or I would have ordered them direct from 26. For someone with his considerable experience in the hobby to make such a blatantly inaccurate statement immediately started alarm bells ringing and I politely declined his offer and cancelled the whole order altogether.

I certainly wont be conducting any business with him anytime soon.

      Hummmm...

I always Email him first to see if product is in stock. I never had any issues with Russell over a period of a zillion years. I find him to be a great source for parts and kits. ...

I dealt with them for many years without any problems and then a few years ago, nothing but problems. I had kits and decals back ordered that arrived back in his stock over a year later and he was annoyed when I said I got them thru another source. Apparently this vendors weren't getting paid so his stock was held up. Now I order decals and most after market parts direct from the source and eliminate the middle man. Kits I order thru Hobby Terra, Tower or Squadron.

Many years ago AHS was the go to source for airliner decals and goodies. I ordered from him twice with no problems, other than a long wait time for one item. A couple of years ago, maybe three years as I think on it, I placed an order for around $30-40 dollars worth of decals and engines. I never got them, and AHS would never reply to my emails. That was the thing - the lack of contact.

This isn't mean to bash AHS. I hope that they will listen to valid criticisms and learn from them, getting back to where they once were and improve their business model. They were a wonderful source for our little corner of the hobby and could be again. When they are, I'll gladly use them. Until then, I cannot.

Just to add, because I want everyone EVERYONE to avoid AHS.

I had numerous bad experiences with AHS. The nail in the coffin was $250 of Skyline detail decals ordered. After 9 months I got 3 of my 20 sets, the rest were "backordered". Two years and at least 20 emails later, I was told he wanted to make it right, please email a copy of the original order. After I did, he could not corroborate with his records, and said he will get the backordered decals anyway. I pestered for a couple more months, and gave up. That original order was placed in 2013. Wish I would have stopped dealing with Russ after my first fiasco. How anyone ever gets service from him more than once and says they have no problems blows me away! I am jealous!

Agreed....I tried to help him out by placing an order again AFTER he "turned things around." Fool me once, shame on you........you know the rest. There will not be a third time

      To each his own...

I'm like Brad....no major complaints buying from AHS through the years.

I've said it before....if AHS goes away that's it for a USA model airliner vendor and I think we'd be worse off without AHS.

Steve's comment "I want EVERYONE to avoid AHS" got my attention. What's the point? Just to put them out of business?

Everybody has and makes choices. If you aren't happy with a vendor let people know and don't buy from them again.
