Since photo references tend to be mostly inconclusive on the subject of my questions, and printed instructions and diagrams cannot seem to agree from one to the next... Did early build (pre-1970) DC-9-30s and -10s with natural metal lower fuselage have light gray wing box covers; and if so, were the aft and/or forward tips of the covers not painted light gray (as it seems in some photos)? Also, were wing center sections typically finished in light gray - or corogard - or a slightly darker/duller shade of aluminum/steel than the rest of the wings? Thank you. Todd IWA |

Todd, I think there was some variation with all of the above. What specific airline color scheme are you interested in? I'd be happy to check whatever references I have to try to give you a more specific answer. Gene MOB |
