Having viewed photos of the respective sprues of the Revell and Zvezda 777-300ER kits online only, both seem to have the same parts, arranged in the same manner. Is one a copy of the other or are there minor differences I missed when comparing the two?

Any comments as to which (if either) is to be preferred over the other?

      Todd,

The Revell is a re-boxed Zvezda.

      Keep em separated!

      Todd,
my preference is for Revell, because

      - the plastic is white instead of grey (requires less paint on these delicate thin engravings)
      - the plastic is more sturdy and does not bend

The very soft Zvezda grey plastic can sometimes cause trouble when sanding (discussed earlier here) especially because the transparent window plastic is very hard compared to the soft fuselage material. Also the plastic may bend in unwanted ways.
Fuselage bending is for example an issue on one of my five IL62M.

      Cheers,
      Christian

Interesting... Didn't know the Zvezda model had softer plastic. I have the Revell version of the kit for no reason other than that's the one my LHS had in stock.

All of Zvezda's kits are molded in the same type of grey styrene. It has a higher vinyl content, so it's somewhat softer and a bit more prone to warping at the factory.
