Today, QANTAS has revealled a new livery, aligned with the planned introduction of their first 789's. It is the 5th livery change in its 96 year history. Looks like the Kangaroo is getting a bit older and showing signs of grey *tongue in cheek* ![]() Overall a nice build to the scheme. There are now quite a few decals to be remade ![]() [img][/img] ![]() |

Thanks for this info, and here are the images of the A330 painted in the new scheme: http://australianaviation.com.au/2016/10/qantas-reveals-new-livery-and-logo/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Qantas/Airbus-A330-303/4039959/L IMHO, it does however not meet my personal taste, look how much the roo degraded with time, barely recognizable anymore and even the arms fell off! My favorite is still the golden stripe scheme as shown on the 767. The good news are, they didn't mess up the scheme like so many other airlines did recently, e.g. the Iberia or China Eastern design crime. PS: Look how elegant Qantas could have looked like: http://hsfeatures.com/features04/images/qantas777st_title.jpg Cheers, Christian |

Meh. Not a total butcher job, but I agree, the roo has been way too over-stylized now. Now that they've chopped off the arm, it looks like the ear is next! Okay, yeah, maybe it is a butcher job!

Oooff......... Another not so good....Title meh........ They've "morphed" the kangaroo so much unless you already know its a kangaroo you wouldn't have a clue what you are looking at. After looking at it for a moment it looks like a nose diving pterodactyl. The kangaroo leg is the dinosaurs head and the kangarood head is the dinosaurs bent wing ![]() Ken |

Not a fan. I'm not totally against rebranding, but this just doesn't seem like a big improvement to me, or any improvement at all. How about instead of that grey stripe wrapping down from the fin, make it yellow to better match Oz's national colors and add a splash of color? The new font is also... Meh... However, the kangaroo is not immediately recognizable as a kangaroo. That's probably the worst part. |

I kind of like the simplified font and the grey stripe is a nice touch, but they shouldn't have cut up that poor roo. I think the overall livery would look better with large QANTAS billboard style titles, by the way.

I agree entirely, it is a hatchet job. It no longer looks like a kangaroo which symbolized the Australian Continent. However, I must say not nearly as bad as American losing its eagle logo entirely being replaced by a paper tab. QANTAS loses its national symbol, the kangaroo American loses its national symbol, the eagle. Sad ! |

Seems everyone is going ugly these days.... Why don't we count the few who still have a nice one, that will keep the list shorter ![]() |

Hadn't really noticed the rebranding. It is very subtle. You have to hope they haven't paid somebody millions to come up with this. I'm a firm believer of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" . Qantas has a very nice scheme to begin with. I liked the version with the gold lining best.

Quote Me too, but if we operated like that then there'd be branding consultants out of work ![]() |
